concession areas during 2017. To endorse incoming capital, Egypt's Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister, Tarek El Molla has held frequent successful meetings with CEOs of all oil and gas actors, including Total and Edison, which resulted in further investments for years to come.

In support of new investments, Oil Minister, Tarek El Molla, has defined the country's vision saying that it is for “the oil and gas sector to continuously unlock the sector’s full value chain potential as a growth and a sustainable development engine for Egypt to achieve financial sustainability, become a regional oil and gas hub, and a role model for the future of modernized Egypt by 2021.” Part of the strategy is to achieve gas self-sufficiency by 2020/2021, with an ambitious, yet realistic projection for gas exports in the given timeframe, as Minister Tarek El Molla further stated at ADIPEC in November 2016.

To fulfil this agenda, “the Egyptian petroleum sector has ambitious plans to jump-start its oil industry, taking it to new horizons. We are investing heavily in the sector, and have successfully launched international bids and concluded new petroleum agreements, the cornerstone of petroleum activities,” said the Minister.

The Egyptian industry has been revitalised and leaders have designed a new strategy that will withstand and overcome existing challenges. The program titled ‘Egypt Oil and Gas Modernization Program,’ which is to be announced at EGYPS 2017, aims to transform oil and gas sector in order to ensure ongoing success and development. It is to

contribute to the efficient use of Egypt’s resources, which have laid a solid foundation for decades of progress to follow.

With these positive achievements, EGYPS 2017 Petroleum Show comes aligned with the ministry's announced strategy seeking $30 billion in new investments. The three-day event guarantees a gigantic space to forge new partnerships, launch new industry initiatives, and advocate for profitable business plans that will make the case for an inflow of fresh capital.

Minister Tarek El Molla said: "Egypt's petroleum sector, with the guidance of a dedicated executive committee of industry experts, is working to achieve maximum possible use of the event through reviewing and demonstrating research, exploration and production, and investment opportunities."

EGYPS 2017, the biggest industry event in North Africa, brings in more than 320 exhibiting companies and above 40 technical, strategic, and Women in Energy conference sessions, which will form a firm ground for new exploration, production, and processing opportunities in Egypt. In addition, EGYPS Women in Energy introduces a new prominent section of the industry, which will discuss the growing role of women within the sectors at a full-day conference divided into 8 sessions.

In other words, EGYPS 2017 opens door to all government and private companies, both local and international, to come together and in the positive environment share ideas, exchange know-how

and experience, and develop knowledge, based on which all the involved parties will be able to formulate new plans and projects to enhance and efficiently turn Egypt's hydrocarbon wealth into economic progress for the country.

EGYPS 2017 thus aspires to establish a leading springboard for North Africa's oil and gas sectors.

INTERVIEW

EGYPS 2017 is the first event of its kind in Egypt. What do you hope to achieve?

EGYPS promises to be the largest oil & gas industry gathering North Africa has ever seen.

It will focus largely on Egypt’s Modernization Five Year Program for the oil and gas industry. The Modernization Initiative has set a clear path for Egypt to compete for a new and ambitious position in the global market as a Regional Oil and Gas Hub.

What are key benefits for companies to participate at EGYPS?

There are 4 pillars of strength that makes the EGYPS event attractive to companies.

First of all there is a massive platform for growth in the upstream sector with undiscovered potential in the West Med, Nile Delta Cone, Levantine Basin and the Western Desert to name but a few of the opportunities.

Secondly, Egypt maintains a leading position in the production of oil and gas across the Mediterranean. Egypt lies in the middle of a number of resource-rich countries and is itself a major energy consumer. It has access to international maritime trade routes via the Suez Canal and SUMED pipeline and compliments these with oil and gas networks such as LNG facilities, gas pipelines and refineries.

Thirdly, Egypt is a huge market with growing domestic demands, which brings with it the fourth point that it is a market with a long standing petroleum sector, offering a diverse range of IOC expertise and experience from the supermajors to the mid-size and smaller operators.

In summary, EGYPS offers access to both the government sector, key NOCs and the IOCs who are participating in the event and ensures that all the key components are under one roof and ready to talk business.

In what ways will EGYPS seek to facilitate new opportunities for both international and local oil and gas companies?

More than 400 exhibiting companies and over 10,000 visitors from more than 20 countries will participate in the Egypt Petroleum Show – EGYPS 2017. Eight international pavilions confirmed their participation for the Show – including companies from major oil producing countries, among which Bahrain, China, Scotland, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, Italy, South Korea and France.

How will be EGYPS able to help forge new partnerships between the public and private sectors?

The show will act as a base for all people to engage in a discourse under one roof from international government representatives to consultants, NOCs, IOCs and international service providers.

As the government looks to encourage new oil and gas exploration, new bidding rounds will come online for both oil and gas. Additionally, there are expansion and upgrade plans to improve the country’s infrastructure with the aim to secure LNG imports in order to bridge the short and medium term gap.

There are also plans to accelerate the development of oil and gas discoveries with investment valued at more than $35 billion over the coming years.

What should one not miss at the event?

EGYPS will host a one day Women in Energy Conference that has been widely supported by the Egyptian government. The panellists for the program are pioneers in the energy field.

Has EGYPS potential to become the largest O&G event in the region?

As a world-class event organizer with a portfolio of over 26 exhibitions and conferences around the world including our flagship events ADIPEC in the UAE, the Global Petroleum Show in Canada and Gastech, held this year in Tokyo, our experience in organising and running numerous events of various sizes, means we have the expertise, knowledge and commitment to launch an event and establish it as a market leading event within a 3 – 5 year period.

Naturally, this is also assisted by having a successful in-country partner – ACG – who bring a much needed domestic understanding and perspective that will ensure that EGYPS is not only a successful launch event, but grows to become the leading exhibition and conference for the North African and Levant market.

Is the launch of EGYPS 2017 a promise of continuation?

The launch of EGYPS is a commitment to Egypt as a country and by extension, the North African and Levant region.

As a country, Egypt offers huge potential for the oil and gas industry and our involvement and presence form part of our long-term strategy that will see us work with the government and Ministry of Petroleum. Via this strong relationship, we will provide a world-class event platform that

covers the entire energy landscape and brings the level of information and knowledge exchange via technical, strategic and developmental conference programs.

What would you consider a success of the event?

The success of the event is already measurable across a number of indices; from the number of key NOCs, IOCs and international pavilions who have already confirmed their participation to the exhibition, the number of high quality abstracts that were received and converted into a great technical conference program to the quality and calibre of the keynote speakers and those confirmed to take part in the strategic conference.

Early pre-registration numbers indicate that this is on track for over 10,000 visitors, but we won’t really know until post event what that number will end up being. All measurements to date, however, are pointing to this being a very successful launch event.

What is needed from the Egyptian government's side to turn EGYPS into a success story? The Egyptian government has been immensely supportive of the event, with the Ministry of Petroleum and His Excellency Tarek El Molla, leading and chairing the executive committee that works on the event. Their dedication, belief and involvement in EGYPS are testament to the commitment of the government sector to ensure the event is successful.

CHRISTOPHER HUDSON, President of dmg events, Global Energy Division explains how oil and gas companies can benefit from EGYPS and what aspirations the organiser has for the event in the future.

INTERVIEW

What are your aspirations for EGYPS to capitalise on in the future?

There is no doubt that EGYPS 2017 convention in Egypt is considered a strong indication of the country's position as a leading player in this industry with a history lasting for over a century. We seek to achieve the optimum benefit of convening the conference and look at the available investment opportunities and the promising exploration areas, along with the downstream activities and petrochemicals, which will reflect positively on attracting more investments.

This conference comes in a time when Egypt is witnessing many changes and major breakthroughs in various domains, supported by a firm political will, accurate vision, and committed government.

EGYPS 2017 is considered a good opportunity to explore the current developments and future energy strategy, along with exchanging views and immediate solutions for energy issues. Egypt Petroleum Show will enrich the dialogue by exchanging expertise and new ideas, allowing young engineers, geologists, technicians, and administrators to recognize the new trends of oil and gas industry worldwide.

What is the action plan to boost Egypt’s oil & gas sector?

The Ministry of Petroleum has developed a work program for the future of energy, which better manages natural resources, faces the challenges, and exploits the features that Egypt enjoys in order to achieve the development requirements.

The petroleum sector is implementing this strategy through projects of direct and indirect investments, which raise country's economic revenues.

Moreover, great efforts are taking place in order to implement the project of modernizing the petroleum sector under the 2020/2021 strategy,

which leads to realizing the vision of Egypt 2030.

What is the future of the oil and gas sector in the overall Egyptian economy?

The Egyptian petroleum industry is considered at the forefront of national economic sectors, contributing to attracting new foreign investments to the Egyptian economy. In particular, the current fiscal year 2016/2017 aimed at pumping investments in fields' exploration and development, up to $8.5 billion approximately, in addition to the establishment of new projects for the petrochemical industry.

Undoubtedly, the petroleum sector has a significant role in the future of the Egyptian economy during the coming years, as energy remains the backbone of economic development. The potential has been boosted by the major gas discoveries, especially in deep waters of the Mediterranean, which will convert Egypt into a strategic energy hub for oil and natural gas trade.

What advantages have amended concession agreements brought to Egypt's oil and gas industry?

Currently, the petroleum sector's top priorities are attracting new investments together with boosting the existing ones. This is applied literally through serious cooperation and continuous coordination with the International Oil Companies (IOCs) operating in Egypt in order to create the appropriate climate for pumping more investments and to achieve several new discoveries.

The Ministry adopts a multi-axis plan to stimulate and attract investments in the oil and gas upstream sector, along with developing the discovered fields through offering new International Bid Rounds to increase the signed agreements with the IOCs. This comes in addition to the implementation of North Alexandria fields' development project through BP and achieving the giant discovery, Zohr, with the Italian ENI.

Certainly, the political stability and the healthy investment climate qualify Egypt for successful injection of high investments by IOCs.

What must Egypt do to meet the country's growing domestic energy demand?

We depend on availing and securing the local market requirements from petroleum products through domestic production of oil and natural gas and local refineries.

The Ministry is exerting efforts to achieve stability in fuel supplies through optimising refineries' capacities, implementing infrastructure projects, and launching new projects to increase the petroleum products storage capacities, along with adding back-up reserves.

Moreover, putting the discovered gas fields in the Mediterranean on production in the second half of 2017 will contribute to providing part of natural gas local needs, especially with a target to achieve Egypt's natural gas self-sufficiency by 2020/2021.

MODERNIZING THE OIL AND GAS SECTOR UNDER A NEW STRATEGY Egypt's Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, ENG. TAREK EL MOLLA affirms the country's position as a leading player in the industry and reveals ongoing efforts to implement modernization of the petroleum sector under the Egypt 2030 Vision.

INTERVIEW

What is ExxonMobil Egypt business outlook for the coming year 2017? 2017 marks 115 years of ExxonMobil’s operations in Egypt. That is more than a century of partnership in Egypt’s growth and we are tremendously proud of our history. As we step in 2017, we aspire to grow our business even further, continue to serve the Egyptian economy and meet the needs of our customers.

How is ExxonMobil Egypt navigating the current economic downturn? As we all know, the Egyptian government and the Central Bank of Egypt embarked on unprecedented macro and socioeconomic reform measures in the past few months. The business community and certainly ExxonMobil Egypt are encouraged by these reforms. There is no doubt this transformation brings a lot of short-term challenges, but with every challenge comes an opportunity. We take a long-term approach in our business and we know how to weather storms. Our business is built on strong foundations of operational excellence, disciplined financial management, technology leadership, and most importantly people, some of the best talents in Egypt and in the world.

What would you say differentiates ExxonMobil Egypt from other oil companies? Our position is not to comment on other companies. In ExxonMobil, we have a strong corporate culture that defines the way we do business and shapes our decisions day in and day out. This culture is built on a foundation of integrity, which is essential and irreplaceable. At ExxonMobil we have identified four types of integrity that govern our business activities; operational integrity, technical integrity, personal integrity, and managerial integrity. Simply put, integrity is about doing the right thing the right way, every day.

Given all of the exciting developments for ExxonMobil in Egypt, what is the strategic importance of the country to ExxonMobil’s global portfolio?Egypt offers significant potential as an export market. With efforts to improve transport connections through mega-projects like the Suez Canal expansion, the country is naturally poised to become a much larger manufacturing and trading centre with a regional outreach.

ExxonMobil Egypt has two blending plants for lubricants, both with sufficient manufacturing capacity and advanced technology to serve the needs of both the domestic and export markets. Our footprint expands to the fuels market as we

deliver quality fuels and services through a large network of 350 service stations across Egypt. Our three fuels terminals also ensure a reliable supply to various types of customers including retail and wholesale, industrial, aviation, and marine.

How is ExxonMobil Egypt dealing with the Egyptian pound devaluation?Part of our business is denominated in USD and we have suffered a loss as a result of the float decision, however, we take a long-term view when assessing our business. We believe that this was a crucial decision for a meaningful economic growth and it reflects a strong political will to reform the Egyptian economy.

What impact has the reduction of fuel subsidies had on domestic consumption?Fuel prices and margins in Egypt are closely regulated and have historically been subject to large subsidies, which in turn have represented a heavy burden on the national budget. Recent reforms to reduce the county’s subsidy bill, have not been an easy decision, and reflected a strong political will to make hard but necessary economic choices for Egypt’s future. Given the importance of such a policy as a prerequisite to meaningful economic development, we look forward to continued progress on the subsidy reform policy. By reforming its subsidies, Egypt can help to enable effective channelling of resources to support inclusive growth objectives and in turn permit the market to reach higher levels of economic efficiency through demand rationalization.

It is important to note that from our perspective, particularly in light of the improved supply of crucial fuels from local refineries, the recent reduction in fuel subsidies, as well as the one in 2014, did not necessarily have an adverse impact on volumes. And just as relevant, developments in the sector have allowed for fuel margin improvements for marketing companies. This increase in margin remains a factor affecting the overall attractiveness and return on downstream investments, particularly as we look to continue developing and investing in service station assets and infrastructure.

We also believe that reduction in subsidies will inevitably lead to improved rationalization of consumption. Only when consumers pay the real price, they will pay more attention to their level of consumption, ensure that their equipment are kept maintained and that energy generated is not wasted

What are the key success factors in Egypt? We believe in the capabilities of the Egyptian people, yet we see room for further improvement in areas such as the development of human resources. ExxonMobil Egypt supports thousands of jobs in the Egyptian community and we invest in community development initiatives focused on education and the development of youth.

What are your aims at EGYPS 2017?Held under the patronage of Egypt’s President, Egypt Petroleum Show (EGYPS) presents a unique opportunity to bring together key players within our industry to Egypt. By making EGYPS the leading Petroleum Show across North Africa, we can shine the light on Egypt’s potential in the oil and gas sector, and collectively help develop the Egyptian economy.

HESHAM EL AMROUSSY, Chairman and Managing Director, ExxonMobil Egypt, Lubricants General Manager Middle East & North Africa, explains a long-term approach in business and how to weather storms to collectively help develop the Egyptian economy.

The interest in EGYPS 2017 is enormous. It will be important for us to see the directions and intentions in which the IOCs plan to move on to grow their businesses. There is no big barrier that could slow down the oil and gas industry in Egypt. In fact, the petroleum sector in Egypt has never stopped, not even during the peak of 2011 revolution, when oil fields were producing uninterruptedly. Egypt has been continuously improving its status. We are renovating the infrastructure amidst established stability and security. Investments are still ongoing. Bid rounds signify progress with 76 concession agreements ratified and signed. We have a lot of potential in the offshore areas, not only in the Mediterranean Sea, but also in the Red Sea, which has not been fully explored yet, as well as in Sinai and the remaining parts of the Gulf of Suez, the Eastern and Western Deserts.

INTERVIEW

What is your vision for Edison in Egypt? Edison is today a confirmed player in Egypt’s oil and gas sector, a position earned through its historical presence in the country and its excellent reputation as a skilled, reactive, performant, and flexible partner. My vision is that Edison, as an integrated part of EDF Group, can and will become even more than this; an integral player in the future development of Egypt as a promising regional energy hub. What has Edison recorded as its biggest success in 2016 and what does the company plan for 2017? We have definitely been on track in 2016 and we have an ambitious agenda for 2017.Edison has successfully completed in time and on budget the construction and installation of the third platform in North Abu Qir, which will be on stream in 2017. Drillings are going to start shortly on two exploration wells in South Idku and North West Guindi, and preparatory technical works are ongoing for the East Med block. In exploration, we have finalized additional 3500km2 3D Seismic survey covering the full North Port Fouad Concession.Edison has stood in the forefront of largest investors in Egypt. In what ways do you plan to continue in this strategy in the future?First of all, we believe Egypt presents, through many aspects, a huge development potential and our long presence in the country as investor and operator is an evidence of our trust. We continue our main activities in E&P, which are the necessary solid ground for any further development in Egypt. Our back-bone is the Abu Qir area, where we continue extending satellite fields using existing infrastructures. New prospects are mainly in East Med, where we expect soon a confirmation of large developments. But Egypt is not only oil and gas. The current energy, environmental and demographical challenges are motivating us to get prepared for more complex solutions to complex challenges. While, historically, Edison has been focusing oil and gas activities, our mother company EDF was acting exclusively in the electricity sector, a Group strategy and closer coordination were recently put in place allowing us to extend the field of activities over the energy chain from hydrocarbon production to final user’s energy consumption, including power generation, renewables, grid, smart metering and energy management, energy efficiency and environmental services. For this purpose, we have established recently a new Edison Services Company, which will host Group’s skills and experiences, acting in

support to all Group’s activities in the country, but also identify, develop and operate efficiency (ESCO) projects in Egypt. A first example could be the construction and operation of a new Gas to Power thermal plant in Meadia. How can EGYPS 2017 contribute to enhancing development of Egypt's oil and gas resources? Egypt is embarking on an ambitious liberalization program of the energy sector. We have seen steps taken in the electricity sector and currently we have a gas law being reviewed in the Egyptian parliament. We hope that this liberalization together with the opening of different segments of energy sector will encourage private investments, support economic growth, and will enable Egypt to maximize the value of its hydrocarbon wealth.EGYPS 2017 is an important meeting allowing stakeholders to understand the official agenda, and to evaluate the opportunities and risks in support of their corporate decisions. As far as Edison is concerned, we believe the recent and, hopefully, future gas discoveries combined with the new regulation rules will generate competition between power units and also motivate energy savings projects. The complete energy map and economics will progressively change in the coming years and Edison is willing to contribute to the necessary optimizations, generating a value to be shared with our customers. What may EDISON as an exploration company gain from such an event? Edison is always looking for partnerships and new opportunities to grow and implement its integrated model in Egypt. We believe that such events are not only a great opportunity to network with companies active in Egypt, but also to welcome new comers to invest in Egypt. More foreign investment means more global confidence and stronger economy, which will benefit to each company present in the country. As EGYPS Gold Sponsor, what are the key messages that you intend to share? Being the second largest gas market in the Mediterranean, with plenty of opportunities, particularly with the recent gas exploration discoveries, Egypt has the potential to become a blue ship for energy investments. We expect the country to play a major role as an energy hub in the region. For this, it should strengthen the economics and the financial liquidity of its energy sector, where keeping the liberalization track is an important step not to be missed. This will allow the private sector to play a bigger role in the future and invest more in the modernization of the country.

How can Edison capitalize on the largest opportunities that the Egyptian industry offers?Edison is an integrated player with activities ranging over the full energy chain. We believe the Egyptian market carries a lot of resemblances with the Italian one prior to liberalization. Edison was a major player in the liberalization of the Italian energy sector and we hope we can play a supporting role in the liberalization of the energy sector in Egypt as well. Therefore, we believe that our integrated model and experience will be necessary and highly valued on the Egyptian market and would unlock opportunities for us, while benefiting to the Egyptian customers and society.

ENG. NICOLAS KATCHAROV, General Manager of Edison International Spa, Egypt Branch, reveals his vision for the company in 2017 that comes in line with Egypt's regional oil and gas hub ambitions.

INTERVIEW

How has the industry downturn affected Weatherford strategy? The deep plunge in oil prices has resulted in significantly reduced investments in the oil and gas industry and as a result forced both the operators and services providers to think about new ways to do business.Weatherford has pro-actively adopted a transformational strategy, cascaded down to countries/business units, to face the rapid changes in the industry, some of which are permanent in nature, and enable an organization that is more efficient and client focused.Weatherford is now a more nimble organization with a talented workforce, closely working with our clients to help them navigate the challenges by providing qualitative value added solutions. How do you see the Petroleum Show could help in developing Egypt's hydrocarbon wealth? The EGYPS Petroleum show is a unique event and is first of its kind in Egypt regarding content, size, sponsorship, organization, and outlook. This event aims to act as a regional venue to attract talent, experts, and decision makers from organizations all over the world where stake holders interact and contribute towards addressing some of the outstanding challenges facing our industry, and more specifically in Egypt. By capitalizing on ideas and knowledge sharing through the panel sessions and technical presentations, where new technologies, solutions and know-hows are showcased, the event aims to enhance the process of improving oil and gas recovery and boosting production levels, and also to attract investments in the oil and gas sector in Egypt, which is an objective aligned with the direction of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources in Egypt. I totally support this event and hope that we all work to deliver on its objectives. How can events such as EGYPS 2017 contribute to Weatherford's future success?EGYPS 2017 will definitely be an excellent opportunity for Weatherford to showcase its capabilities, currently in the country, and those that we want to introduce to our clients as part of our growth plan in Egypt. It is also an excellent venue to have quality time and discussions with our clients. We aim to present several technologies that address some of our customers’ challenges. As an example, our Managed Pressure Drilling services, with the world leading technology and processes in managed pressure drilling, have flawlessly deployed on Saipem 10K with ENI/Petrobel on one of the ongoing high profile

projects in the deep water of the Mediterranean Sea. This excellent delivery has increased the level of partnership between Weatherford and ENI/Petrobel and we aim to share this result at the event and push to broaden our footprint in the Egyptian market in 2017 and beyond. How will Weatherford feature at the event? Weatherford is planning to have speakers from our global executive management team in the strategic sessions, in addition to having a booth in the conference and exhibition hall, with in-booth technical presentations of our current and soon to be introduced portfolio of services and products in Egypt. In addition to the technical aspects, we want to share updates and ongoing plans of the Weatherford’s Egypt community and social responsibility (CSR) program that we are very proud of. We want to promote our engagement with our local community that started in 2015 as a unique local social responsibility initiative to give back to our community in Egypt.Which products and services is Weatherford going to exhibit? We are planning to present our portfolio of services and products that are currently present in the country from well construction product, artificial lift systems, completion together with the latest updates and upcoming technologies. In addition, and through booth presentations and group discussions, we will give a particular focus to our portfolio of formation evaluation solutions that includes the directional drilling services, well placement solutions and Wireline services, soon to be introduced in the local market, in 2017.What are your expectations for the EGYPS 2017 event? We expect the event to lead to more collaboration with our clients on multiple fronts; including exploring new opportunities and opening

the door for adopting new technologies and solutions based services that Weatherford is keen on introducing in Egypt.Where do you see the largest opportunities in the Egyptian oil and gas sector? From our perspective, partnering with our clients, promoting know-how and knowledge sharing, coupled with the deployment of new technologies for exploring, developing and producing hydrocarbons create endless opportunities for all stakeholders. The current initiatives in the oil and gas sector in Egypt definitely reinforce our view and goals to invest and grow in Egypt. We are in it for the long run. What are Weatherford's goals in Egypt for 2017? Weatherford plans to further expand its business in Egypt and add to our existing portfolio of products and services that includes production systems, completion services and managed pressure drilling services. There is growth potential for our Formation Evaluation services, such as directional drilling services, petrophysical well placement solutions and wireline services, where we will be capitalizing on our regional and global experience. The main challenges include activity planning uncertainties in the industry in the current environment, however, there are strong indications that activity will be stable and increasingly going forward, based on a number of good initiatives undertaken in Egypt. Our direction remains to work closer with our clients to ensure that we do better planning and position ourselves as partners in enhancing the hydrocarbon exploration, development and production through the adoption of fit for purpose solutions, as was evident on one of the high profile deep water projects in the Mediterranean, offshore Egypt, with our Managed Pressure Drilling services.

FREDERICO JUSTUS, Weatherford's President, Regions Operations, shares the company's plans to further expand its business in Egypt.

PAVILION NEWS

Over its eighty-plus-year legacy, the Bahrain Petroleum Company (BAPCO) has steadily progressed from strength to strength. Pioneering the discovery of oil in the Arabian Peninsula, BAPCO began exporting its products two years after its inception in 1932 and then commenced refining activities in 1936.

Today, BAPCO is fully owned by the Government of Bahrain and serves as one of the leaders in the regional oil and gas scene.

Its dedicated work force is engaged primarily in refining, distribution of petroleum products and natural gas, sales and export of crude oil and refined products among other activities. The organization owns a 260,000 barrels-a-day refinery, storage facilities for more than 14 million barrels, a marketing terminal, and a marine terminal for its petroleum products.

BAPCO exports 95% of refined products it produces, with a major portion of its customer base being constituted by the Middle East, India, the Far East, South East Asia, and Africa. Further, BAPCO carries out extensive studies on a continuous basis at the offshore to explore new oil and gas reserves and obtain more accurate data on the existing reserves with the use of advanced techniques. The company churns out high-quality Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), Naphtha, Gasoline, Kerosene, Aviation Turbine Fuel, Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel, Heavy Lube Distillate, Fuel Oil and Asphalt, which form the core of its business.

“BAPCO proudly participates in Egypt Petroleum Show 2017 as part of the delegation of Kingdom of Bahrain, which comprises of the National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA), the Oil and Gas Holding Company (Nogaholding), the

Bahrain National Gas (Banagas) and the Gulf Petrochemicals Industries Company (GPIC). Bahrain’s participation in this key event is in line with the wise directives of the Oil Minister of Bahrain, HE Shaikh Mohamed bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa, aimed at upgrading the oil, gas and energy sector of the Kingdom and getting acquainted with the latest global trends and advances in the oil industry through active participation in such prestigious international forums,” said BAPCO’s Manager Corporate Communications, Nawaf Al-Ghanem.

It is a great privilege for the Energy Industries Council (EIC), the leading trade association for UK-registered companies working in the global energy industries, to be hosting the UK pavilion at the first ever Egypt Petroleum Show (EGYPS).

Given the incredible resources the country has - 4.4 billion barrels of proven oil reserves – and the huge effort being put into developing these, I am confident that EGYPS will quickly become one of the most important oil and gas industry events worldwide

I am particularly excited about the unparalleled access that EGYPS 2017 will offer UK companies to project owners, government representatives and key decision makers from the country’s NOCs.

The UK pavilion at EGYPS 2017 is one of the many UK pavilions that we host at a number of international energy exhibitions every year, however, participating in global energy events is just one of the ways in which we help our members to maximise commercial opportunities worldwide:

Helping Members to Track Global Energy Projects

Our project database, EICDataStream, provides extensive information on almost 7,500 active and future projects in all energy sectors. By tracking the full project life-cycle from feasibility to construction and then completion, it helps members to identify opportunities and plan their business development strategies.

Connecting Members with Buyers

The EICConnect series of events brings together UK supply chain companies with global energy contractors and operators. Our overseas trade delegations are also a good way of introducing members to regional energy markets and their major players.

Supporting Members to Expand into Markets across The Globe

Member companies who want to do business outside the UK can rely on our global network to provide regional market knowledge, one-to-one advice and practical support. We also run events and training courses, provide virtual and rental offices,

and offer facilities for hot-desking, meetings, conferences and corporate events.

To find out more about the full range of products and services we offer, please, come to the EIC stand at the UK pavilion, where I’ll be delighted to talk to you.

Likewise, I am happy to introduce you to any of our exhibiting companies. When it comes to oil and gas experience, innovation and technical know-how, the UK is a major player. Please, come to our stand to find out how our companies can add real value to your projects.

International environmental solutions provider, TWMA, is celebrating a decade of success in Egypt with a major HSE milestone.

Abdelrahman Amin, Egypt General Manager at TWMA, said: "Egypt has always been an important country for TWMA as our Alexandria and Cairo facilities were our first established operations in the MENA region."

The growth of operations in Egypt has been so significant that as well as continual upgrades to both the Alexandria and Cairo sites, turnover for these operations has reached almost $9 million per annum in previous years. Most notably, staff numbers have more than doubled over the last ten years reaching 50 in 2017, all of whom are Egyptian locals, "whose wealth of knowledge of the country is key to TWMA’s ongoing growth and success.”

The linchpin to TWMA’s success in Egypt has been the establishment of long-standing, strong relationships with some of the industry’s largest operators in the region, along with the company’s demonstrable health and safety track record, which recently resulted in an impressive five year milestone.

TWMA's Amin noted: "We have recently reached five consecutive years with zero Lost Time Incidents across our onshore and offshore operations in the region. This was a fantastic achievement, which underpinned the team’s commitment to a strong safety culture and the highest possible standards in all our operations."

TWMA has made ongoing investment in its Egypt facilities which have evolved significantly over the past ten years. Amin continued: "It was important that we increased the waste storage and process capacities of the Alexandria facility, which included upgrading our TCC RotoMill® to process increased amounts of waste. We have also upgraded our maintenance and fabrication capabilities as well as the offices of our Cairo site."

Moving forward, TWMA plans to upgrade and further increase the slops treatment capabilities of the Alexandria site, which will support its complete service offering in the region. The company will also be utilizing its Offshore Thermal Treatment - TCC RotoMill® and its Onshore Mobile Thermal Treatment - TCC RotoTruck® technologies at additional client sites.

"We continually improve our sites which have allowed us to successfully introduce our innovative technology in Egypt, across a range of projects from small and ad-hoc to large and long-term. We continue to build strong relationships with our clients, who include international companies and operators, and to diversify into other countries such as the UAE."

Ganoub El Wadi Petroleum Holding Company (Ganope) is one of the main entities of the Egyptian petroleum sector. It is responsible for the supervision and management of all petroleum activities under latitude 28°.Ganope believes that improving petroleum investment climate involves providing incentives that enable us to compete and remove barriers that impede our investment and growth in order to achieve a positive balance. This is the main strategy the company pursues aiming to increase the number of petroleum agreements in Ganope working areas. While Ganope is continuously launching new international bid rounds periodically, it is also reviewing and substantially improving the oil and gas fiscal regime and regulatory landscape to ensure its consistency with the principles of attracting investment.Ganope is confident that its working areas, which represent two thirds of the Egyptian lands, are fortunate to have access to significant oil and gas reserves still to be exploited. However, the data is still lacking in this geophysically challenging area. To tackle this deficiency, Ganope has launched the Non-Exclusive Multi-Client Seismic Survey Project on August 9th, 2016 to collect new geophysical data and to reprocess and update the existing data in open areas based on Request for Proposal process. The Project aims to provide high quality, extensive, regional data-set and thus promote these areas to

be launched in bid rounds. We have received several offers from a number of reputable companies who see Ganope's open areas as promising on the map of petroleum production in Egypt. The need to develop alternative power resources is becoming ever more urgent as Egypt’s demand for electricity is growing rapidly. Ganope is thus studying the use of non-conventional energy resources especially oil shale and geothermal energy to generate electricity by concluding MOUs and cooperation agreements with governmental authorities and international companies.

The oil industry has gone through an unprecedented downturn during last two years. This has resulted in an increased pressure to reduce operational costs in an attempt to minimize losses. Further, the industry has been challenged to improve recovery factors from unconventional reservoirs in order to increase production with continued cuts to completion and production budgets. Although this may seem to be an unsolvable equation, the Apollonia project managed to find an answer. The Apollonia Unconventional Chalk formations were initially explored in 2012. At that time, vertical wells were drilled and completed with massive hydraulic fracturing treatments resulting in gas production. While productive, the economics did not work out. For the Apollonia to be produced economically, horizontal wells completed with hydraulic fracturing treatments were the way forward. However, in 2012, the technology to drill and complete horizontal wells just was not economical. Fast forward to 2016 – the technology has significantly advanced and the challenges of the Apollonia could now be faced head on.For such a project to be successful, the work began way before the first well was drilled. Collaboration with the customer was the key to success. Modelling and understanding the reservoir was the first step in determining how to drill the well, where to land the lateral section, and where to cut cores for additional analysis. Understanding the reservoir also helped develop the initial completions plan

and fracturing design. The plan was to drill the lateral section in an azimuth to yield transverse fractures upon the completion of the treatment. Core samples were set to be taken across the entire zone to ensure representative results.Engineered stimulation solutions, to maximize recovery and efficiency for the client through Surface Efficiency, Custom Chemistry, and Subsurface Insight, were the focus of the project. And although all three were demonstrated, the main differentiator was Custom Chemistry.Utilizing Halliburton’s proprietary RockPerm Service, we were able to identify the most effective surfactant package for the reservoir. RockPerm testing utilizes formation fluids, cuttings, and fracturing fluids in a laboratory testing process to compare surfactant performance. Surfactants aid in fluid flow maximizing overall well clean up and improving the mobility of reservoir fluids. Using the cores obtained, we performed proppant embedment tests. This test helps ensure the proppant utilized during the stimulation treatment does not embed into the formation once the fracture closes. If that happens, you lose fracture width and conductivity, which can limit production. For this project, we wanted to test local natural sand versus imported White sand. The results of that test revealed that Local Natural Sand of 20/40 mesh size worked well with this formation. Utilizing local natural sand significantly reduces the total cost of the job. We were able to share some of that

cost savings with the customer, which was a huge win for them and Halliburton.Once all of the pre-work was completed, it was time to run the job. Completed using a Plug-n-Perf technique utilizing Halliburton E-Coil technology, eight consecutive stages were pumped successfullyFor Halliburton, a major milestone in Egypt was obtained. We pumped 5,000,000 pounds of natural sand in one well with more than 60,000 gal of fluid. This is the largest single-well completion in Egypt to date. For the customer, the well is currently producing at the anticipated rate and they were able to get the well online at a lower cost than originally budgeted. Collaboration, planning, and design all came together to produce a win for both Halliburton and our client.
