OFFICIAL HALIFAX URBAN WALKING MAP Initiated in 2018, the Halifax Urban Walking Map is a compact, foldable tool featuring maps of Downtown Halifax, the North End and Downtown Dartmouth. This year, we’ve combined the previously named “Cruise Walking Map” and our Urban Walking Map into ONE - making this a crucially important resource for cruise guests, the Halifax-based meeting & convention market and leisure visitors who are looking for places to eat and things to do. It’s the only map in Halifax of its kind! With 100,000 (33% increase YoY) copies being printed this year, the map will continue to be a popular and useful resource for visitors. NEW: If you are featured on this year’s map (see opportunities below) you automatically reserve your space to be included on future editions! Downtown Halifax is the urban core of the region, complete with hundreds of restaurants, boutique shopping, festivals and events, world-class attractions and

highly rated hotels. Sitting on the beautiful harbour – an attraction in and of itself – is the bustling Halifax boardwalk, one of the longest downtown boardwalks in

the world. It offers stunning views, plenty of things to do and places to eat. We can’t wait for you to visit and experience where things happen on the water.

Attractions Tourist attractions in Halifax are plentiful, with much-loved

historic museums, galleries and public spaces such as

the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21, Halifax

Citadel National Historic Site, Maritime Museum of

the Atlantic, Halifax Waterfront, Discovery Centre and

the Halifax Public Gardens. Find these and many more

attractions on one of the maps! Shopping From trendy and unique boutiques to made-in-Nova Scotia items, there’s a reason why Halifax is known as Atlantic Canada’s shopping

capital! Pick up the perfect souvenir or add some trendy pieces to your wardrobe in one of these easily accessible shopping districts: Spring Garden Road, The Hydrostone, Bishop’s Landing, Historic Properties, Halifax Seaport and Downtown Dartmouth.

Cuisine No visit to Halifax is complete without tasting our incredible cuisine. As the culinary capital of Atlantic Canada, there are hundreds of fabulous restaurants to choose from! Dartmouth are easily walkable areas. For just $2.50 take the 10-minute ferry ride

DOWNTOWN DARTMOUTH FEATURED BUSINESSES

NORTH END HALIFAX: WHERE TRENDY VIBES MEET CHIC RESTAURANTS AND NIGHTLIFE. This region is steeped in 250+ years of history. During the Halifax Explosion (the largest man-made explosion prior to the development of nuclear weapons), many parts of the North End were destroyed. This brought the development of iconic neighbourhoods such as the Hydrostone, which now serves as a hip market with boutique shops and restaurants. During the 1950s, the North End served as the city’s premier shopping and theatre district. The region is also where civil rights pioneer, Viola Desmond (whose face is on the new Canadian $10 bill) lived and worked.

DOWNTOWN DARTMOUTH: AN URBAN VILLAGE BEYOND THE HARBOUR. Over the past few years, Downtown Dartmouth has grown into a vibrant community with top-notch cafes, gourmet restaurants, chic shops, fabulous lunch spots, unique galleries, and an overall plethora of amazing things to do. Dartmouth was named one of Canada’s hippest neighbourhoods in 2017 and has become a food and drink lover’s paradise. Hop on the ferry and explore Downtown Dartmouth by foot. Even better, there are parks and scenic activities right downtown. You haven’t seen the Halifax Harbour until you’ve seen it from both sides.
