Officers of 1 st /7 th The Royal Scots On their arrival in Gallipoli on August 10 th they found there was not much left of their Battalion following the battle of Gully Ravine on June 28 th 1915. Many of the wounded left on the battlefield died of dehydration. During the ill-fated Gallipoli campaign an estimated 250,000 troops were killed, wounded, taken prisoner or hospitalised before their withdrawal in January 1916.
