2. Bishop- One who oversees, superintends, guards, or provides directive care.

3. Pastor- One who shepherds, feeds, guides, and protects.

4. Summary – Elder, Bishop and Pastor all refer to the same office in scripture.

1. Spend adequate time processing what you are sensing. Is it from the Holy Spirit or my own desires?

2. Be Patient. Realize that clarity from God may take time. 3. Seek the counsel of a pastor you admire and respect.

4. Get involved in ministry now.

5. Seek affirmation of your calling from others.

• A man -- masculine leader

• Above reproach -- without any character defect

• Able to teach -- effective Bible communicator

• Not a new convert – mature Christian

2. Relation To Family

• Husband of one wife -- one woman man, sexually pure

• Having obedient children-- successful father

• Manages family well – provides for, leads, organizes, loves.

• Respectable-- worth following & imitating

• Hospitable-- welcomes strangers, especially non-Christians for evangelism

• Not violent -- even tempered

• Gentle -- kind, gracious, loving

• Not contentious -- peaceable, not quarrelsome/divisive

• Good reputation with outsiders-- respected by non-Christians
