BOARD OF ADJUSTMENTS

December 27, 2016

The Board of Adjustment of the Parish of Ascension held a Public Hearing on Tuesday, December 27,

2016 at 6:00 p.m. in the Courthouse Annex Council Meeting Room 2nd Floor, 828 S. Irma Blvd.

Gonzales, Louisiana for the following:

1. Meeting Called to Order by Chairman. The Vice Chairman called the meeting to order.

2. Roll Call of Members. The following members were present: Darla Harris, Devin Graham (Vice Chairman), Steven

Joffrion, Edward Krass III, Branden Bennett and Willie Robinson

Absent: Brad Walker

3. Public Comment Period

No one from the public spoke during public comment period.

4. Acceptance of the Minutes of the November 29, 2016 meeting.

Commission Action: Mr. Edward Krass III, seconded by Mr. Branden Bennett, made a motion to

accept the Minutes of the November 29, 2016 meeting.

A Yea and Nay vote was called and resulted as follows:

Yeas: Darla Harris, Willie Robinson, Edward Krass III, Branden Bennett and Steven Joffrion

Nays: None

Abstained: None

Absent: Brad Walker

The Vice Chairman did not vote.

5 Yeas, 0 Nays, 1 Absent and the motion carried.

5. Acceptance of the Written Decisions of the November 29, 2016 meeting.

Commission Action: Mr. Steven Joffrion, seconded by Mr. Willie Robinson, made a motion to accept

the Written Decisions of the November 29, 2016 meeting.

A Yea and Nay vote was called and resulted as follows:

Yeas: Darla Harris, Willie Robinson, Edward Krass III, Branden Bennett and Steven Joffrion

Nays: None

Abstained: None

Absent: Brad Walker

The Vice Chairman did not vote.

6. Public Hearing to Consider the Following Variances:

A. Zoning Review ID PZ 1161.16- Lot 4 Summerfield North Subdivision for Paula Fallon

Located on the east side of Summerfield North Road approximately 350´ north of

Summerfield Road to request a variance of the Ascension Parish Development Code,

Section 17-2073 Site Requirement (F) Purpose and Intent: Setback and Yard Requirements

(Residential).

Mr. & Mrs. Paula Fallon, property owners, presented the variance request to reduce the

minimum front setback (feet) from the street centerline.

The minimum front setback (feet) from the street centerline is 55. The applicant currently

has a home located on the property 52´4´´ from the street centerline. The existing structure

(home) is not encroaching into the 25´ building line from property line. The applicant

would like to construct an addition to the existing home. The addition would be 49.33 feet

from centerline of road. The variance being requested is 5.67 feet.
