Cost analysis of e-learning modules From meeting with CLC – Marc Young (NOAA) / Kristina Klenk
(eSkillz)•Cost
• No cost of hosting the courses on CLC (Commerce Learning Center)
• Only cost is the initial development cost and testing uploads costs
• Example cost of typical 20 slides course ~ 50-200 hours• 50 – 200 hrs x $85/hr ~ $ 4,250 - $17,000 / course
– 5 courses – Minimum of ~ 20 K to host
•Means to reduce the cost • OCS led development (SCORM / AICC content)• Will need software + training
– Articulate: http://www.articulate.com/ ($1500)
•Compliance / Review• http://www.howto.gov/web-content/accessibility/508-compliant-

– Host these courses at CLC (In HSTP 2014 budget)
• Track use and feedback through this site

Course selection considerations
• The most requested courses from the ship– What reduces the ship training burden the most
• Suitability for e-learning environment• Longevity of the material (how often are updates
required)
