Office Interior Design Trends to Look Out For
By- Allied Studio
As offices change, their interiors are also changing. This comes from the changing face of workforce, the methods of work and the increasing space of technology in the work environment.
What are some of the upcoming trends of office interiors today?• Interactive spaces
• Work is today all about collaboration. As we move towards a more service oriented work environment, people and their strengths become more important. Commercial interior design has to accommodate for this change as well. One of the best methods of enhancing flow of work and ideas is to create interactive spaces.
• These are common areas where people can sit and discuss ideas, projects, argue about their finer points. Usually every office floor should have a little space earmarked for this purpose. It should not have the rigidity of a board room. A sofa and chairs grouped around a table, points for laptops and your have your space.
Relaxing loungeA popular concept in commercial interior design today is the allocation of a relaxing lounge. This is a space where everyone can just relax and chat with
each other.
Other pursuitsAn offshoot of the relaxing lounge, some office planners are now investing in
spaces devoted to some other activity, such as table tennis or billiards room. It gives people a place to display their aggression in an acceptable manner. The competitive spirit can eventually help in the workspace as well. The biggest
advantage, however, is the stress release these activities offer.
Home away from homeThe nature of work is changing and so is the worker. Many offices are open
round-the-clock today with employees coming in at all times. Many commercial spaces have accommodated this change by creating a interior design of a home
away from home. Some workplaces have sleeping rooms, others have kitchenette, some others have washers and dryers installed near washrooms!
Rethink space allocation
The way space is distributed in offices is changing radically. Walls have come down, private offices have shrunken in space and numbers and more changes
are yet to come. The big boss need not necessarily have the biggest office. The engineer working with machines may have a bigger space than the manager
who comes in once in a while!
