Dear Brothers and Sisters:

Today, nearly half of the Gospel pas-sage consists of historical-biographical data. Shows that God came into the history of mankind in a very "precise" way, as He also did in the history of every man. For example, in the life of John, son of Zechariah, «He called him so that he went into all the country around the Jordan preaching... » (cf. Lk 3:3). Today, God speaks to me with his Word. He does it personally - as with John the Baptist or through his emis-saries. My Jordan River may be the Sunday Eucharist, it may be the Pope Francis’ tweet, which reminds us that «the content of Christian witness is not a theory, but rather of a Person: it is the risen Christ, the living and only Sav-ior of all». God has entered into the history of my life because Christ is not a theory. He is the saving practice, the Charity, the Mercy. But at the same time, this very God needs our poor effort: that we fill in the valleys of our distrust of his Love; that we make low the mountains and hills of our pride, that prevents us seeing Him and receiving His help; that we unbend and straighten the crooked roads that make the path to our heart become a maze. Today it is the second Sunday of Ad-vent, and its main objective is that I can meet God in the way of my life. Not just a Newborn infant, but over and above all the most Merciful Savior to see the smile of God, «when all the people will see God’s salvation…» (cf. Lk 3:6). So it is! St. Gregory of Nazianzus, said it «nothing pleases God more than the conversion and salvation of man» Brothers and sisters, thanks to each one of you who contributed to the Advent Dinner last Sunday, we had a wonderful time as Saint Anthony Family, and many more to come. We will have the Christmas Eve Masses English/Vietnamese at 5 pm & Spanish Mass 7 pm. We invite you all to participate in the celebration of Our Lady of Guada-lupe on December 12th, 7 pm Span-ish Mass with our Bishop James Johnston as Presider.

SUNDAY : SECOND SUNDAY OF ADVENT DECEMBER 9, 2018

Queridos Hermanos y Hermanas

Hoy, casi la mitad del pasaje evangélico consiste en datos histórico-biográficos. Dios entró en la historia de la humani-dad de un modo muy “concreto”, como también en la historia de cada hombre. Por ejemplo, en la vida de Juan hijo de Zacarías que estaba en el desierto. Lo llamó para que clamara en la orilla del Jordán (cf. Lc 3,6). Hoy, Dios dirige su palabra también a mí. Lo hace personalmente como en Juan Bautista, o por sus emisarios. Mi río Jordán puede ser la Eucaristía domi-nical, puede ser el tweet del papa Fran-cisco, que nos recuerda que «el cris-tiano no es un testigo de alguna teoría, sino de una persona: de Cristo Resucita-do, vivo, único Salvador de todos». Dios ha entrado en la historia de mi vida porque Cristo no es una teoría. Él es la práctica salvadora, la Caridad, la Miseri-cordia. Pero a la vez, este mismo Dios necesita nuestro pobre esfuerzo: que rellenemos los valles de nuestra desconfianza hacia su Amor; que nivelemos los cerros y colinas de nuestra soberbia, que impide verlo y recibir su ayuda; que enderece-mos y allanemos los caminos torcidos que hacen de la senda hacia nuestro corazón un laberinto… Hoy es el segundo Domingo de Advien-to, que tiene como objetivo principal que yo pueda encontrar a Dios en el camino de mi vida. Ya no sólo a un Re-cién Nacido, sino sobre todo al Miseri-cordiosísimo Salvador, para ver la sonri-sa de Dios, cuando todo el mundo verá la salvación que Dios envía (cf. Lc 3,6). ¡Así es! Lo enseñaba san Gregorio Na-cianceno, «Nada alegra tanto a Dios como la conversión y salvación del hom-bre». Hermanos y hermanas, gracias a todas las personas que hicieron posible la Cena de Adviento de la Parroquia el Domingo Pasado, es una alegría tener a la Familia de San Antonio reunida para compar-tir la fe y un platillo de comida y esperamos que sea por mucho tiempo mas. Tendremos las misas de la Noche Buena el Lunes 24 en Ingles/Vietnamita a las 5 pm y en Español a las 7pm. Les invitamos a todos a participar de la misas a nuestra Señora de Guadalupe de la fiesta el 12 Diciembre celebrada por nuestro Obispo Santiago Johnston. San Antonio, ruega por nosotros.
