General InformationHealth and Safety
The health and safety of our campers is our primary concern.Every precaution is taken to safeguard the physical and
emotional well being of each child in all of our programs. Manyof our programs, including JCC Grossman Camp, the JCCEarly Learning Centers, JCC Kaleidoscope Creative Arts andScience Camp, Summer Sports Camp, and JCC Maccabi CampKingswood, have on-call physicians. In addition, Leventhal-Sidman JCC camps, JCC Grossman Camp and JCC MaccabiCamp Kingswood, have nurses on staff. Also, Striar JCC andLeventhal-Sidman JCC directors and auxiliary staff are first-aidand CPR certified. Medical forms are required from all programparticipants prior to the start of our summer programs and mustbe valid within the past 12 months.
Jewish Values and TraditionsJewish values are woven through many of our programs. The Jewish Community Centers of Greater Boston valuesstrong, positive Jewish identities. Many of our programs includeShabbat services, kosher food and Jewish enrichment. Contactthe camp or program of your choice for more information.
Extended CareTo accommodate your schedule, early drop-off and extended day options are available in many of our day programs for anadditional fee. To apply for these options, complete the extendedcare section in each program’s application.
FacilitiesSummer programs located at either of our two JewishCommunity Centers haveaccess to our outstanding facilities. The Striar JCCfacility in Stoughtonincludes arts & crafts areas,an indoor lap pool, full-sizedbasketball courts, classroomspace, outdoor pool withwater park, full fitness
studios, outdoor play space, 300-seat auditorium, computer lab,and a dedicated children’s lounge.
The Leventhal-Sidman JCC facility in Newton includes air-conditioned, state-of-the-art studios, playing fields, tenniscourts, basketball courts, fitness studios, classroom space, indoorand outdoor pools, gymnasium, kosher food service, auditorium,children’s gym, rock wall, playgrounds and hiking trails.
JCC Grossman Camp and JCC Maccabi Camp Kingswoodboth have a fully equipped waterfront, multi-purpose recreational halls, a kosher kitchen, and a health center. These camps have much more to offer. Please flip to their camp page for more information!
Special NeedsAll of our programs strive to accommodate children with specialneeds. Specific special needs programs or accommodations areavailable at JCC Maccabi Camp Kingswood, JCC GrossmanCamp, and JCC Kaleidoscope Creative Arts and Sciences Camp.Striar JCC and Leventhal-Sidman JCC facilities are wheelchairaccessible. Contact the camp or program of your choice formore information.
Financial AidThe Jewish Community Centers of Greater Boston offers financialaid for most programs to those who qualify. Please complete thefinancial aid application at www.jccgb.org/financialaid or checkthe box on your program application to have an applicationmailed to you. Deadlines: Grossman – 4/1/08, Kingswood –1/2/08, Striar Kids Kamp, K’Ton, and Striar Day Trippers –3/1/08, all other camps – with camp application.
Accreditation The JCC Early Learning Centers are fully accredited by theNational Association for the Education of Young Children and comply with the Massachusetts Department of EarlyEducation and Care, which licenses Acton, Wayland, Brookline,Gan Shalom, KinderKlub, K’Ton and Striar Kids Kamp.
Additionally, JCC Grossman Camp, JCC Kaleidoscope CreativeArts and Sciences Camp and Summer Sports Camp complywith the Massachusetts Department of Public Health regulations and are licensed by the Newton, Stoughton or Dover Department of Health. JCC Maccabi Camp Kingswoodis licensed by the state of Maine and is accredited by the ACA and MYCA.
Vacation ProgramsLeventhal-Sidman JCC offers Vacation Programs for children in grades K-6 during week long school vacations in December,February and April. A 9th week option in August after the campseason and before school begins is also available. These programsinclude a well-rounded array of activities including art projects,science experiments, free swim, and active play in the gym and outside. Visiting specialists and programs may include jugglers, a traveling planetarium from the Museum of Science,Audubon Ark from Drumlin Farm, and field trips to WheelockFamily Theatre, and more. Additionally, Striar JCC offers Vacation Programs for ages 3 andup. There are themed activities, craft projects, free swim, gymgames and field trips. For more information on these programs,please call (781) 341-2016 x290.

Kehilla Unit (entering grades K-10)Kehilla campers participate in all camp activities andadditionally have scheduled periods of worship and Torahstudy. The Kehilla Unit emphasizes experiences that fosterthe observance of mitzvot (commandments, good deeds).Your child will become part of the Grossman family, asmany Kehilla campers continue their studies with usinformally – throughout the summer. In Kehilla Kibbutz,for those entering grades 6 - 9, your child can participatein both these traditional Jewish activities and Kibbutz life.
Kibbutz Grossman (entering grades 8 and 9)This four- to eight-week program gives your child anopportunity to experience Kibbutz life, while developinga sense of community and responsibility. Campers willmake delicious meals, help the community, and even handle work assignments! They also participate in campactivities and intra-camp competitions.
Counselor-In-Training Program (entering grade 10)While building leadership and communication skills,Counselors-In-Training (CITs) will learn the tools necessary to become a counselor. CITs are assigned workwith groups of campers, under supervision, in addition to their own recreational activities and skill sessions.
Ninth Week (5 - 12 years)Designed for families that need coverage between the end of camp and beginning of school, the Ninth Weekfollows the regular camp season and provides a longerday, with pickups and drop-offs available in Newton,Stoughton, Brookline, Lexington, Sharon, Framinghamand Natick.

Special NeedsGrossman’s inclusive program offers campers with mild tomoderate disabilities a chance to be able to follow a regularcamp program under the guidance of experienced counselors.There is also the opportunity for inclusion with extra support. A limited number of spaces are available for thisprogram and interviews are required.
The Grossman DayEvery day consists of eight periods, including one each for Red Cross approved instructional swim, free swim and
lunch. The youngestGrossman campers
sample a wide variety of camp
activities at a paceappropriate to theirage. As campersmature, they beginto have more

Meet the DirectorStuart Silverman is Director of the JCC Grossman Camp andalso oversees JCC Maccabi Camp Kingswood. He began hiscareer at Grossman in 1977 as counselor, moved on to UnitHead, then Assistant Director and finally, Director. He is alsoa veteran guidance counselor at Lexington High School.

L ive, learn, work, play and tour in both Boston and Israel. The Teens for Tzedek Summer Israel
Experience is a unique opportunity for teens to experience an intercultural exchange that connects
Boston and Haifa teens through community service.

• Assist students at a Haifaspecial needs school
• Lobby key decisionmakers in Haifa and Boston
One of the most unique aspects of the JCCTeens for Tzedek Summer Israel Experience isthe focus on social justice. Each participantselects a specific social service placement toengage in, including working with the elderly,hunger and homelessness, HIV/AIDS and urban
education. The group consists of 18 teens from each countrywho spend 6 weeks together living, laughing, serving, andlearning about social justice, Judaism, and each other.

Special Features
The StudioCampers experience full arts exploration under the guidance of master artists. Campers take a hands-onapproach, experimenting with techniques in our professionally equipped, air conditioned ceramics, darkroom, painting and mono-print studios.
The StageThroughout the summer, campers stage four, full-scalemusical productions involving playwriting, acting, vocals,choreography and costume design. While professionaldirectors, stage technicians and musical accompanistsguide the way, campers shine in solo and group, chorus anddance performances on a professionally equipped stage.
Arts Nite (Session 1: July 16th, Session 2: August 13th)Each four-week session culminates in a special evening to highlight our talented campers. Fully staged musicalsare performed on an equipped stage, and campers’ artistic creations are installed throughout the JCC in a majormultimedia exhibition.
The CommunityKaleidoscope regularly welcomes visiting performers andartists. Additionally, campers take field trips to differentBoston venues. Kaleidoscope offers a Two-Week program(grades K-1) for our first year campers, in which Kaleidoscopespecialists carefully guide our youngest campers throughnature hikes, a field trip, swimming, sports and Shabbat. In Lower camp (grades K - 3), campers engage in activitiessuch as tie dying and teepee building in hour-long periods.
Upper camp (grades 4 - 8) offers ouroldest campers a choice of over 40 different electives including performing and visual arts, sportsand gaming.

Counselor-In-Training (grade 9 and above):Counselors-In-Training gain leadership skills as they assistcounselors and specialists in camper activities and plan campcommunity events. In addition to exploring the arts – andhaving access to the JCC pools and tennis courts, special outings and evening activities – they participate in speciallydesigned workshops focusing on child development.
FoodAll snacks and meals served at Kaleidoscope are certifiedkosher in an allergy aware environment. Campers bring adairy lunch each day. For an additional fee, we also offer ahealthy kosher lunch option through the Sweetberry Café.

Dive into competitive swimming at the JCCGB All★Star Swim Camp! Individualized instruction
by professional swim coaches will take all experiencedswimmers to a higher level of performance. This programis ideal for current swim team members as well as newand experienced athletes. Emphasis is on teamwork,learning, fitness, and skill improvement in a nurturingenvironment. Additionally, swimmers will be video-taped in order to review and improve their technique.Your child will strengthen their performance of competitive skills such as flips turns, speed and diving.
