The Lenten season is a special time of year when we have the opportunity to prepare ourselves to receive and celebrate the radical, life-changing grace that Jesus offers us in his glorious resurrection. It is a time for us to tangibly search our hearts and souls in order to discern what may be impeding our relationship with God. During Lent 2019, we want to lean into that pursuit. Each Wednesday, starting on March 20th, we are going to offer a midweek Lenten worship service. This will be a shortened time of worship that will include: prayer, a brief homily, and we will join together around the Lord’s Table for Holy Communion. Midweek Meditation will begin at 12:15 p.m. on the Third Floor Loft Worship Area, and will last for 30 minutes. As Easter approaches, it is our prayer to join together and experience the grace of our Lord during Lent. We hope to see you at Midweek Meditation!

Blessed: A Journey Through the Beatitudes A FUMC Sermon Series for the Lenten Season

The season of Lent is upon us! During this time of the year, even more so than others, we remember what Jesus did. He died on Good Friday. He rose on Easter Sunday. Because of this, we are able to live with the blessed assurance of what Jesus’ saving life meant (and means today). The question is, “How do we prepare ourselves for Easter?” This is exactly what we will address during our upcoming sermon series. Throughout the Lenten season we will observe what it means to live into the fullness of Jesus’ blessings. We will spend this season studying the Beatitudes – blessings Jesus proclaims in his Sermon on the Mount. In preparation for Easter, we hope you will join us as we learn from Jesus how to enjoy God’s blessings!

Preschool has had a very fun February. We celebrated Valentine’s day with parties. We also cooked pancakes for the letter “P”. We had a visit from the police to talk about bike safety and ended the month having a St. Jude Trike-A-Thon. We have collected over $3000 so far this year. Looking forward to next month, with visits to the dentist, chiropractor, Rodeo Day and visiting Navarro County Youth Expo. We are enrolling for next year. If you know anyone that is interested let them know. Our preschool classes fill up quickly.

Valentine Veranda was a success thanks to all your generosity, love and support!! MID-WINTER RETREAT!! A group of us went up to Glen Lake Camp for Mid-Winter Retreat 2019! We had such a fun time playing games, worshipping and growing in relationship with each other and Jesus! UMW Circle I has prepared Valentine treats for Special People in our congregation for 40+ years. Started by Ruth Morris, the tradition continues every February. It is estimated that approximately 1,200 people have been recipients throughout these many years!

Want to broaden your faith and learning. Come join

us in the UMW Reading Program. The program

encourages all of us to read from a specially selected

list of books. To participate read one or more books

from each of the 5 categories going back for the last 3

The UMW book club, open to anyone, will meet after

church on April 28, 2019, giving us plenty of time to

read the book before then. The first book we will

review will be from Education in Mission category. A
