Background: Early Colleges Educational movement focusing on
increasing access to post-secondaryattainment;150+ ECHS programs
nationally, including several inMichigan
Founded on the assumption thatyounger students are fully capable ofrigorous, higher-level academic work.
Especially successful with studentswho have not found their niche incomprehensive high schools
Goal is to provide integrated K-16educational experience

Focus is on challenge, acceleration,relevancy and relationships
Students attend an Early CollegeHigh School from Grade 9 toGrade 13, with the schoolembedded and fully integrated intothe college campus

Upon achieving proficiency in a given content area,students take university courses for high school andcollege credit
