34th Annual Arts Festival Recap

Message From The Incoming President

Despite a rainy start to the morning, the 34th Annual Bethany Beach Boardwalk Arts Festival was a huge success! 2012 Lifeguard Awards

Exclusive Member Savings

The Chamber recognized seven outstanding members of our local beach patrols on Au-gust 2nd at bluecoast seafood grill during the annual Life-guard Awards. These awards are presented each year to thank the young men and women for their dedication to keep our beaches safe through the busy summer season. Each

of the award winners are chosen by their peers and patrol leadership. In addition to the actual awards, La Vita Bella Day Spa in Ocean View and Anne Powell & Jennifer Hughes Team, Resort Quest Real Estate donated a gift certificate to each of the 2012 Outstanding Guards.

2012 awardees: Victor Farr, Bethany Beach Patrol; Ryan Littleton, South Bethany Beach Patrol; Tim Hilovsky Delaware Seashore State Parks; Garrett Piel, Sea Colony Beach Patrol; Andrew Majewski, Fenwick Island Beach Patrol; Spencer Noel, North Bethany Beach Patrol; Holden Wingate, Middlesex Beach Patrol. All lifeguards were commended for their exceptional service to their patrols, and also to the local economy because safe, clean beaches are an important component in attracting tourists to the Quiet Resorts. Following the Lifeguard Awards the Chamber presented checks to the towns of Bethany Beach, Fenwick Island and South Bethany to help fund lifeguard service on the weekends following the Labor Day holiday. This is the nineteenth year the Chamber has supported this program.

July Business After Hours

August Business After Hours

September Membership Meeting

The July Business After Hours was the place to network in July. Meris Properties and Kiki at the Beach hosted the mid-summer networking event at their model home at The Cove at Sandy Landing. Nearly 100 chamber members attended and were able to view the beauti-ful homes available. We hope everyone was able to stop by our great spotlight tables that evening: Bethany Fine Arts Gallery, Edward Jones – Max Hustell, Financial Advisor and PNC Bank. Thanks again to our generous members who donated door prizes at the event: Alterations & Crafts by Barbara, Automated Copy Systems, Beebe Medical Center, Dela-ware Beach Book, DiFebo’s Restaurant, Edward Jones – Max Hustell, Financial Advisor and Mike’s Carpet Connection.

UPCOMING EVENTS

There’s nothing like networking at the beach, and that’s exactly what our members were able to do at the August BAH. More than 85 members attended the event at the historical Indian River Life-Saving Station. Throughout the event members were able to tour the museum, enjoy a delicious sampling of food from Bethany Blues, and learn more from spotlighted members Delaware Beach Life magazine and Mediacom Business. A big thank you to the entire staff at the Indian River Life-Saving Station for sharing their stun-ning location with us. Another special thank you to our members that donated door prizes to the event: Alterations & Crafts by Barbara, Automated Copy Systems, Beebe Medical Center, Bethany Florist, Mike’s Carpet Connection and Orhelein Photography Inc.

We didn’t let the weather rain on our parade, well membership meeting. On Thurs., Sept. 6 nearly 40 members met at Dirty Harry’s Restaurant in Fenwick Island to learn more about new healthcare changes. Brad & John Allen with Allen Insurance recapped when and how new healthcare reform would go into effect and how the changes would impact individuals, businesses and healthcare overall. A big thank you to Lora and the staff at Dirty Harry’s for preparing a scrumptious breakfast, complete with their famous delicious baked goods!
