    the church.

Praise the Lord for the ministry start up at WestHarbour Gardens. Please pray that the Lordwould powerfully work both in and throughthose who serve in this ministry.

Praise the Lord that a night has been set asidefor Ladies Night (Nov. 22), and that a speakerhas been found (Annette Bennett). Pleasepray that the planning team would know theLords direction, and that the night would beused powerfully to bring women to Christ.

Pray for peace in Egypt, where violentdemonstrators have attacked more than 70churches since August 14; the extremists alsodestroyed dozens of Christian homes andbuildings. Pray that God will protect thebelievers and that God will help Christians inEgypt to love and forgive those who persecutethem.

    MEETINGS COMING UP ...

    Elders Board 02 October 2013Executive Committee 16 October 2013

FROM DENNIS FISHERBut Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and

    prayed.. Luke 5:16

Many believers long to spend daily time with God,praying and reading His Word. Ironically, they areoften distracted by a busy schedule. Frustrations

mount as busyness seems to crowd out an opening in

    their schedule.

Oswald Chambers has wisely commented on thetransforming power of even 5 minutes in the presenceof the Lord. Indeed, even a short time spent inintercession and the Word still has great value: It isnot the thing on which we spend the most time thatmoulds us, but the thing that exerts the greatest

power. Five minutes with God and His Word is worthmore than all the rest of the day. Now, it may soundlike Chambers has made an overstatement. Yet

powerful results can come from even a short time ofprayer, because God is powerful.

Sometimes our days are filled with busy demandsthat crowd out time spent in listening to and

responding to God. But no matter where we are, anytime taken to build our own spiritual altar to theLord as Abram did (Gen. 12:8) opens the door to Histransforming power. If you are having troubleestablishing a time with God, you could start with

just 5 minutes and see where it leads. Our God longsto meet with us and show His power in our l ives.
