together to produce a first rate commercial. •

This quarter our Spotlight isshining on “LeKia Carson”.
LeKia deserve high recognitionand honor for
her total commitment toSUCCESS!!! LeKia has servedon the Student Council Board,held the A&B Honor Roll for
many semesters, beenawarded a certificate for CAMPEXCELLENCE, been awardedfor her completion of theVacation Bible School course,received Special Recognition
for “Faithful Breakfast BuddyParticipation”, received a “Reading Award” and receiveda Certificate for completing the2000/2001 D.A.R.E. Program
and most recently she wasnominated to attend theNational Youth LeadershipForum on Defense, Intelligenceand Diplomacy, which will be
held in Washington, D. C. onFebruary 27th through March 4,2007. We’re very proud to “Spot Light” her achievements!Kudos to you LeKia!
This is so exciting!!
Guess what we’re going
to be doing during our “Monthly Meetings” for
the next couple of
months. Give up? OK!We’re putting together a
commercial this
commercial is supposed
to be aired on BTW 21 TV
station during the monthof December. Isn’t that
neat!! Participants are
working to put together
their own commercial for
the GEMS PROGRAM,which will highlight The
Reality House and Mobile
Class Rooms emphasis
will also be placed on
other programcomponents as well.
We’re working in
collaboration with Ron
Morris of radio station
“Super Country 99.9” formerly B-99 Radio
Station and we’re also
working with Chad and
Rodney of BTW-21
Television Station to
make this endeavor thebest that it can be. Our
projected filming date is
November 16, 2006 at
6:00. If you haven’tparticipated in the making
of this commercial you
can’t be in the filming of
it. Sorry!
Now that everyone’s
settled into their curriculum
for this semester it’s a goodtime to update you on what’s
been going on and what to
expect in the future.
The GEMS Staff have really
been busy assisting youth
with enrollment issues and
placement barriers.
Some of our graduating
students have moved into
Post Secondary Education at
Patrick Henry Community
College and National Collegeof Business and Technology.
Some have entered Medical
Tech fields and Cosmetology
fields of study whicheverfield of study you decided topursue we want each of you
to know that the GEMS Staff
is excited for you and
committed to assisting youin any way that we can.
For those of you who need to
be reminded again, please,
remember that our MonthlyMeeting for all participants
occur on the 3rd Thursday of
each month unless you are
notified of a change this
meeting will always be onthe 3rd Thursday of each
month @ For The Children
which, is located at 801
Starling Ave beginning at
6:00PM. Your participation isexpected an appreciated!
