October Events

Dear Members,

October is here and we are in full swing at the Nebraska Club. Thank you to all of our members who visited the club in September. We had a very successful month and hope to continue that momentum throughout the fall and into the holiday months.

We had some wonderful events in September that I would like to share with you. First, we had three very successful and well attended Husker Pre-Game Buffets in September. The biggest, of course, being the September 17th Saturday when Oregon came to town. We even had some Oregon fans dressed in green and yellow stop by the Nebraska Club. We also had a very successful wine tasting and Captain’s Table Sushi Event at which Chef Montana demonstrated the art and skill of Sushi rolling.

We capped off the month by hosting the University of Nebraska - Friends of Opera Gala Event at our club. It was the 15th Anniversary of their Gala and we were told by many that it was their largest and most successful Gala Event ever! Chef Montana received rave reviews for his food and the night was capped by some wonderful performances by the University of Nebraska Opera Department students.

As an opera singer myself, it was a joy to see such a well-attended cultural event at our club. I hope that we can continue to add events like this to the Nebraska Club in years to come.

This month, we have a full slate of events for our members. Please take a look at the Calendar of Events for October. Hopefully, there is something of interest for every member to enjoy. We have an Oktoberfest Week with a German beer tasting, a Captain’s Table featuring a pasta rolling demonstration by Chef Montana, and an exquisite wine dinner featuring the wines from The Prisoner Wine Company of Napa, California.

Fall is a great time to visit the Nebraska Club. The football and volleyball teams are winning, the beautiful fall leaves are turning and there are events for everyone. There is no place like the Nebraska Club!!

Reciprocal Club SpotlightReciprocal clubs are clubs throughout the country and abroad that we, at the Nebraska Club, have a reciprocal usage agreement with. You can, as members of the Nebraska Club, utilize these clubs and their services when you are traveling. Please refer to our Nebraska Club website for a complete list of reciprocal clubs. If you are interested in visiting a particular club, please let us know and we will reach out to that club and assist in arranging a visit.

Since 1909, The Madison Club has been a pillar of excellence in the Madison, Wisconsin community. Situated just blocks from the state capitol on Lake Monona, the Madison Club serves as a premier destination for Madison’s best and brightest professionals.

Currently, with over 900 families as members, the Madison Club is the perfect place to socialize, conduct business, drink or dine while experi-encing some of the best cuisine and service there is to offer.

The Huskers visit Madison to take on the Wisconsin Badgers on October 29th. This would be a fantastic place for our Nebraska Club members to consider visiting while in Madison.

Please contact General Manager, Tom Westfall, if you are interested in visiting the Madison Club. He will be happy to set up an introduction for your visit.

BEVERAGES Of The Month

WINE2013 TRUE MYTH CABERNET SAUVIGNONPaso Robles, Central Coast, CaliforniaThis rich, yet smooth, Cabernet Sauvignon is loaded with elegant aromas of blackberry, blueberry, pepper and cassis which lead to flavors of dark red fruits with hints of cedar spice, cocoa powder and caramelized oak. 9/34

COCKTAILPUMPKIN MARTINISomebody once said, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. I’m not sure who that person was, but they must have been speaking of the cocktail we bring back every October, the very popular, Pumpkin Martini. Nothing says fall like this delicious spiced drink and we sure make a good one. Come up to the Nebraska Club and let our talented bar staff prepare one for you!
