The Unseen Fashion in Batik!Batik, a traditional cloth that uses a manual wax-resist dyeing technique, plays an important role in the life of the Indonesian as it was being used by most of the In-donesian in their traditional wedding or ceremony.

Who says Batik looks so out of date and old-fashioned? Now many worldwide designers try to use Batik as their project material and with their magic touch, they make Batik even more fashionable, fresh, and dynamic than ever! And, yup! Nowadays, the tradi-tional cultural heritage of Indonesia is featured in a cool variety designs.

But, only in the late 19th century that this art began to be rec-ognized by the people in Java, Indonesia. Moreover, since Oc-tober 2, 2009, UNESCO inaugurated Indonesian batik as a Mas-terpiece of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity; which means that our Batik has stepped into the international level and steals the world societies’ attention!

The reason why these well-known designers use Batik as their project material is simply because the unique pat-tern that the Batik has! This unique pattern has become their own charm and makes their existence long-lasting in the fashion world.

To complete her Spring/Summer 2012 col-lections, Stella Jean an Italian-Haiti de-signer use Cirebon’s Batik as her inspira-tion. The �ora-circular �ower and fauna-dominated by peacocks and butter�ies are the identity of Cirebon’s Batik. Various cool out�ts in colourful colours make her crea-tion become fresh and young. From pretty dresses, cropped pants, headpiece coat straighten fashion lover’s style statementon their appearance.

While world-class designer like Anna Sui was inspired by Batik and made it as a trend for her clothing line at summer 2013 accompanied by tribal prints, ikat, geometry Aztec patterns, etc.

Not only these famous designers that were inspired by Batik, but famous super model like Tyra Banks also inspired by Batik and becomes Batik’s fans. Not only that, she also brought up Batik in its American invasion.
