Next meeting October 25th, 530pm. Gig Harbor Methodist Church 7400 Pioneer Way Gig Harbor, WA 98335 Public Welcome!
October Demo: Michaela Eaves, Sketching and Sketching Techniques!
“I'm a UX and visual designer working in the Seattle and Bellevue areas. I have experience working on various platforms – desktop online services, mobile apps, and experimental hardware. I have a BFA in Graphic Design, and I do a bit of illustration and writing on the side. In my free time, I hang out with my dog, mountain bike, and volunteer to rescue animals though rarely all at the same time”. She will be one of the artists in the Tacoma Studio Tours. She is primarily a sketch artist and has published a couple of books with her sketches and stories. She is going to show us some of her latest techniques. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L7PpiaH96a0
Please do not park in the visitor’s spaces in front of the church.

October’s President’s Message: This month looks to be an interesting meeting with a demo from a sketch artist and also the Urban Sketchers are bringing their sketchbooks to share with us. Art is so diverse and there is always something new to learn and enjoy! Praise to all you wonderful members and your creativity! This is also our election month. We have a full slate of officers so no sweat there, but we are in need of a few helpers on different committees. Think about your talents and how you can help. Are you an organizer type? Consider helping out on the Festival committee or Open show committee. Are you an idea generator? Consider coming to a board meeting, listen in, and voice your opinion or idea. Or do you just want to see what goes on at the board. All members are welcome at the board (this month Oct. 20, 10 A.m. at Timberline bank conference room on Judson Street). Are you gregarious and outgoing? We always need greeters and friendly people at the meetings to welcome the newcom-ers. Do you have video ideas for our video library? Contact Jean Grover at [email protected]. Do you love to
cook? We love to eat! Consider offering to bring a snack to the meeting. Do you just enjoy doing things with a friendly group? We always need folks to help hang shows, and take in art, decorate open show ribbons, etc. Yes there is a perfect place for everyone to volunteer. That's what makes PAL great! So find your spot, donate some time, and become an integral part of your great organization. I did and I am
having a great time! Oh yes, one last thought...get to work using your artistic talent on an ornament for the Christmas Party. Marti and Michele always make it a delectable and fun evening. Spouses welcome! So put it on your calendar, Dec. 3rd, from 11-2 pm at Nichols Community Center on Fox Island. See you at the meeting! .
Charli Live well, laugh often, love much!

September 2016 Board minutes:
Present were Charli Meacham, Randy Robbins, Myrna Binion, Feather Hilger, Carlene Salazar, Virginia Wedington, Cathie Johnson, Barb Ruble, Greg Trathen and Cathie Johnson..
The Meeting was called to order at 10:00 am. We welcomed Carol Thomas, an Advisor from Wells Fargo, who re-turned to further explain Brokered certificates of deposits as an investment option for our funds. She presented each of us with a Guide to what we should know before investing in Certificates. This subject will be discussed again at our next Meeting. Our main objective is to take no risks with the funds in question. Carol is available to help us whenever need-ed.
The income from these funds would be $800 a year less $150 service fee. The Funds are FDIC insured.
Carlene gave a Wrap-up Report on the Open Juried Show.
Anne gave a Wrap-up on Plein Air painting for this year. Art work should be delivered to Mallards Landing on September 30th.
Randy (Treasurer) informed us that the Total Overall Income from the Festival was $40,511.17 less $19,292 for Expens-es for an Overall Total of 21,218.81.
The PAL Budget is not ready. Other Financials were discussed.
Results from the Garden Show were positive and several paintings were sold.
The Open Show went very well. Gail will help Carlene in future.
Myrna will not continue in the workshop position. There was a discussion about future PAL Workshops. Perhaps a Wa-tercolor Instructor might be a good choice.
The question raised as to whether diptychs and triptychs are acceptable in the Member Show. The answer was yes if the allover size was within the stated limits.
There is a new radio station in town. It might be feasible to place an ad there.
There will not be Tee Shirts for sale next year.
The Meeting was adjourned at 11:45 am.
