School has only been in session for one month, but our senior scholars are already visiting colleges, learning about financial aid, developing a clear understanding of what researchers say it means to be “college ready,” working on college applications, editing their college essays, and diligently looking for scholarship opportunities. This month is dedicated to starting our public and private school applications, and perfecting the college essay. Next month, November 21st, is our annual “BP Mail Out Day!” Apparently we are on the cutting edge because this year the NYC Department of Education announced their participation in a national campaign, “College Application Week,” which begins on Monday, November 17th and ends on Friday, November 21st.

This year’s 11th grade College Access class has gotten off to a strong start. So far we have discussed and presented information on CUNY colleges/universities and SUNY colleges/universities these included some of the two-year programs and the 4-year programs as well as the opportunity programs in both institutions such as SEEK/CD and EOP. We are also preparing for October PSAT and the June SAT by taking practice tests and working on writing prompts that help build vocabulary. As we continue forward this year we are going to be doing research of on different majors and the careers that these majors lead to.

Alumni Bronx Prep is proud to announce that 82% of our 2014 graduates have successfully matriculated into college this fall. More students are slotted to enroll in Spring 2015 and we are excited to support them every step of the way! We have students attending college all over New York and in Georgia. Some of the schools our scholars have chosen to attend this year are:

Emory University Fordham University Cornell University Mercer University

Iona College Monroe College

CUNY/SUNY
