THE LITURGY OF THE EUCHARIST

OFFERTORY HYMN (5:00) Saint Michael Hymnal 525 For the Fruits of His Creation OFFERTORY MOTETS 9:00 Psalm 150 C. V. Stanford

11:00 Panis angelicus D. Bartolucci Bread of the Angels is made bread for mankind. Gifted bread of Heaven of all imaginings the end. Oh, thing miraculous! This body of God will nourish the poor, the servile, and the humble. Thee Triune God, we beseech. Do us Thou visit, just as Thee we worship. By Thy ways, lead us where we are heading, to the light Thou dwellest in. Amen.

There was a man in the land of Hus whose name was Job, a blameless, upright and God-fearing man; Satan asked to be allowed to tempt him, and the Lord gave him power over his possessions and his body; and so, he destroyed his possessions and his children, and he ravaged his flesh with horrible sores. Job 1, 2 & 7 INVITATION TO PRAYER

Celebrant: Pray, brethren, that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to God, the almighty Father.

℟: May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands for the praise and glory of his name, for our good

and the good of all his holy Church.

SANCTUS Mass Setting II - Lumen Christi Missal, p. 845

MYSTERY OF FAITH

GREAT AMEN

SIGN OF PEACE

Celebrant: The Peace of the Lord be with you always. ℟: And with your spirit.

AGNUS DEI Mass Setting II - Lumen Christi Missal, p. 845 HOLY COMMUNION We invite actively practicing Catholics who are properly disposed to come forward to receive Holy Communion. Our brothers and sisters of other faiths are invited to approach with arms crossed over the chest to receive a blessing. At Holy Family we receive the combination of the Body and Blood of Christ on the tongue. If you prefer to receive just the Body of Christ in your hand, please have your hands clearly out before you approach. COMMUNION ANTIPHON Gregorian chant, mode I In salutari tuo anima mea, et in verbum tuum speravi: quando facies de persequentibus me iudicium? Iniqui persecuti sunt me, adiuva me, Domine Deus meus. My soul aspires after your salvation; I hope in your word; when will you judge those who persecute me? The wicked are persecuting me; come to my assistance, O Lord my God. Ps 119:81, 84, 86 COMMUNION MOTETS 9:00 Ave Maria J. Arcadelt

11:00 De profundis W. A. Mozart Out of the deep have I called unto thee, O Lord: Lord, hear my voice. O let thine ears consider well the voice of my complaint. If thou, Lord, wilt be extreme to mark what is done amiss: O Lord, who may abide it? For there is mercy with thee: therefore shalt thou be feared. I look for the Lord; my soul doth wait for him: in his word is my trust. My soul fleeth unto the Lord: before the morning watch, I say, before the morning watch. O Israel, trust in the Lord, for with the Lord there is mercy: and with him is plenteous redemption. And he shall redeem Israel from all his sins. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Ps 130 SECOND COLLECTION Respect Life

This week's second collection is for Respect Life, which is used to assist local life care centers and to promote pro-life awareness through educational materials, activities and events sponsored by the Holy Family Respect Life Committee. CLOSING HYMN Saint Michael Hymnal 577 Immaculate Mary

CONCLUDING PRAYERS Upon consultation with the Pastoral Council, Father Joseph has accepted the proposal to add two prayers at the end of Sunday Masses as part of our personal acts of thanksgiving, immediately following the closing hymn. The congregation will pray aloud a “Hail Mary” for the intention of whichever parishioner is the next to be called home to the Lord. In light of the current crisis in the Church, then the “St. Michael Prayer” will follow using this translation (pg. 1085 of Lumen

POTENTIAL FACILITY EXPANSION Prayer for Guidance from the Holy Spirit

Come Holy Spirit!

Enlighten our minds and hearts as we seek Your wisdom

to guide our efforts for the future of our parish.

Make us grateful for the sacrifices of those who came before us

and whose legacy of faith we have inherited.

Inspire us with ways to strengthen

our future as a witness of the Gospel in the Twin Cities

and Your instrument for the formation of the next generation of Christians. May the Holy Family of Nazareth

be our model and may we always live united in charity with Jesus at the center of our lives.

Amen.

STEWARDSHIP CORNER The Respect Life Committee believes in the sanctity of life from conception until natural death. Prayer and awareness are the essential elements to our mission. This past year we started hosting a blessing for expectant mothers every month on the third Sunday at 10:30. Twice a year we adopt-a-day in our local 40 Days for Life prayer vigil. We promote pro-life awareness on current events with speakers and presentations from local groups. Annually, we support the “Tree for Life” to collect baby and infant items to support local pregnancy resource centers. Meetings, generally, are the first Monday of every month at 7:00 in the Saint Joseph Room. To receive notifications of our sponsored events and how you can help sign up in Flocknote or contact Linda Wandrei at [email protected] or 952.926.8087.

OCTOBER IS RESPECT LIFE MONTH! 40 D L The Holy Family Respect Life Committee invites you to come and pray with us Saturday, October 27th during our Adopt a Day of Prayer with the 40 Days for Life Campaign. We will be praying outside of Planned Parenthood in St. Paul from 6AM-6PM. We are asking for people to sign up for just one hour of prayer during that time frame. Please go to the Sign-Up Genius www.hfcmn.org/news/respect-life-month for more information and to select an hour (or two) for committed prayer time to pray for the babies in the womb of their mothers. At a minimum we would like 2 people at each hour. Any questions can be directed to Linda Wandrei 952.240.3732 or [email protected].

U U A M No-one would know about America’s most prolific serial killer late-term abortionist Kermit Gosnell, if Ann McElhinney and Phelim McAleer had not responded and raised over $2 million dollars to make a movie Gosnell: The Trial of America's Biggest Serial Killer which opens in theaters October 12th. Watching this movie won’t be easy but seeing it will propel the movie into the mainstream and ensure that more Americans are educated on the horrors of late-term abortion. Seek out the theater closest to you to view it by googling the movie.

VOCATIONS K S W S D P ? This discernment group is open to young men: sophomores and older. Please share this information to spread the word! Taking place Sunday, October 14th and most every Sunday: 3 - 4 PM: Discussion of the spir itual life, pr iesthood, and discernment led by Father Joseph Johnson 4 - 4:30 PM: Sung Vespers The Holy Spirit is the only one who "recruits" a young man for the priesthood! These gatherings are simply a way to learn more about growth in holiness and how to ask the question in prayer to see if God is calling you. It's an informal format driven by questions and answers rather than a defined topic each week. If you are interested in attending, please email Father Joseph at [email protected] with any questions, as well as your basic information (name, age, school, grade, email, and phone number). A group email will be sent out with details and also in the event of any cancellations. M D V Matrimony—a beautiful vocation so misused today. Celibacy—a beautiful gift so misunderstood today. Whether we do God’s work in pairs or as a single person in ministry or in a community, we do God’s work because He calls us.
