ON THE COVER: September is Senior Center month, and this year’s theme is Senior Centers: The Key to Aging Well! Every year the National Council on Aging highlights a theme:

“Senior centers are the future of what aging can be. Innovative programs hosted at senior centers can change the perception of aging, and create important community resources for aging ex-pertise.”

Each center in Arlington will be hosting at least one social event to commemorate the theme. Arlington Mill is hosting a cookout to recognize the importance of community connections. Since we love cornhole so much, we’re going to play that too! Check out details on page 6.

For other fun cornhole events, check out the calendar. This year we are proud to host the Northern Virginia Senior Olympics Cornhole Tournament, Sudoku and Jigsaw Puzzle events. For more information be sure to ask center staff for a schedule and registration form. Looking forward to seeing you there!

No Answer? If you’re calling in to register for a program, there is an occasional chance you will not get a live person. Luckily, Arlington Mill Senior Center is diligent about checking voice mail! Please leave your name, phone number, and the program in which you are interested in registering for. If you prefer a call back, you may also specify. Thanks for your continued support!

There are so many great places to walk around Arlington Mill Senior Center, join a group of like-minded seniors to explore the great areas. Arlington Mill is adding a new walking group known as the ‘Arlington Mill Trekkers’ The group will meet every Thurs-day at 9am in the Arlington Mill Plaza, then walk from there to various locations in and around the neighborhood.
