A Message From our Pastor:We are all in transition. The fall is moving in by way of calendar, by weather, and by activities to name just a few ways we can see the season in transition. Each of us transition as individuals from moment to moment, day by day, throughout all our life. God’s hope for each of us is that as we are in a constant state of transition to become better image-bearers of His Son, our Savior. I cannot think of a better transition to take place. We are in this process of growing in our trust of His way being the best and only way for our life. We are in a transition of practicing disciplines that strengthen our trust in God; from reading His word to believing and acting upon His word. Jesus told us how to live and even gave us a perfect model of how to live. We are in transition to live as the King of Kings for the King of King’s glory.

This transition is seen in the world, in the person, and I suggest in the body of believers at First Baptist as well. We are transitioning our regularly scheduled events to include two viable and valuable opportunities during the month of October with one goal in mind. Our strategy: to stretch our hands out in practical ways when we see a need. We sees needs and respond:

• Gift baskets for those displaced from Florida’s storms

• Ramps built for those that are physically challenged

• VIP special needs ministry to minister to all of mankind

• Texas Mission Trip (Oct. 8-12)• Partnership with our local schools

These are where we were flexible to the needs that arise within a given year. However, we also prepare for those opportunities we know come each year to make a difference. Enter stage left - “Fear Not Fest”. Our goal is simple for this event:

• Unify as a church to pray for the lost in our community

• Unify as a church as we work together to serve our community

• Unify the hearts of the community that First Baptist is here for their family

• Parents look for a safe place that is fun and friendly. FBC is just that sort of place!

We are excited to continue in our wonderful outreach with our Fall Festival for the community we call “Fear Not Fest”! This has been one of the best ways we have connected with the community over the past decade. We see more un-churched and lost souls enter our facilities than any other time throughout the year. We have even had some of those families and individuals choose to worship God through connecting with First Baptist at this family-friendly and safe experience. As they enter our facility, they find their family connecting with the body of Christ-His children. We improve this event each year as we connect with the community as we offer the Gospel to each man, woman, boy, and girl! We have placed the Gospel within each bag of every child. We will be praying over each family. Please seek out more details within this newsletter, as well as sign up for the way you can make a difference. Trust me, every person can make a difference if we make ourselves available and willing to serve His Kingdom.

We need your prayer and your participation as we strive to strengthen our community as we stretch our hands to win lost souls! Every one of our people has an opportunity to make October be a turning point, or transition, to God’s Holy and Perfect Way. Will you join us as we provide and we pray for God and His Will to be done. There are a thousand wonderful things we could do. These few focused options are ways First will surely make a difference in the lives of those around us. As Galatians 6:9 reminds us, “And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.” Love,

Jon

s Our Fear Not Fest Tuesday, October 31st.

This is the largest community outreach our church has each year. Ministering to the over 1,800 people who come through our parking lot is a

huge task and a lot of folks are needed to show the love of Jesus to the people in our community.

Each year we are able to share the Word of God with many who do not hear it otherwise. We give each person a tract explaining salvation, we provide pamphlets that provide information on the ministries of our church and the service schedule. We have a prayer tent available for anyone who would like to request prayer. We must have your help showing the love of Christ

to those who come. If you are interested in helping with the planning, providing a trunk, working a booth, helping with set-up and clean-up, or just handing out smiles and

hugs, please contact Mrs. Amie as soon as possible.

This year’s Children’s Christmas Musical

will be Sunday, December 3 at 6:00. Rehearsals every Wednesday night

after Children’s Bible Study which begins at 6:00.

Let the Candy Wars Begin! There is a great need for candy for the Fear-Not-Fest. Each year, despite the large amount we have donated, we still have to make a candy run sometime during the night to purchase more candy. Our staff likes to turn this into a competition. Pastor Jon and Donnie are both pulling for their team, Alabama. Chad is cheering for his Auburn Tigers. Jim Mike is “undecided” so there is a bucket this year called “OTHER.” It represents all the other teams of the SEC. And last but not least, Amie will be cheering on her Tennessee Vols. Let’s get to buying some candy y’all. Show your support for your favorite team and or staff member. Please donate candy and help make this year’s Fear-Not-Fest a life changing event in the life of someone in our community.

“Fear not, for I have rescued you; I have called you by name; you are MINE!”

Welcome to the Faith Family

Jim Mike & Carolyn Ward Danny & Sherry Green

A Note from Jim Mike: If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind (Philippians 2:1-2). Carolyn and and I are so blessed to be a part of the FBC Faith Family! We’re looking forward to making life friends and serving together with Pastor Jon and your incredibly gifted staff. Please be patient as we learn everyones names. As a Faith Family, we are "being like mined” when we practice friendship evangelism, and most of all share the good news of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Rejoice Always! Jim Mike

Project Life for TN recently purchased a 3rd mobile ultrasound unit to reach abortion-minded women and provide life-affirming truth through free ultrasounds and counseling. This mobile unit is parked behind The Hub while we continue to raise funds for the operational costs associated with this effort. Please join us in prayer for discernment as we prayerfully consider whether this unit should be placed in Lincoln County or another part of the state. As you all know, it is my heart’s desire to place it in Lincoln County! Please make plans to come tour the unit at the LC4LIFE Family Festival to be held at the Lincoln County High School on October 1, starting at 3:00. The festival will include face painting, bounce houses and much more culminating in a time of praise and worship as a community of believers gathering to dedicate this unit for LIFE!

From your FBC Safety Committee!

Guest Services Team volunteers are a valuable part of providing a first impression that everyone receives as they enter and exit our church! These same Guest Services Team members are also the first line of safety for everyone that attends our services. There are several dedicated persons that give their time each week in greeting everyone as they go to the many church activities in our church on Sunday mornings. These Guest Service Team members need many more that will sign up to help at 7:30, 9:00 and 10:15 church services. Many Guest Service members serve every Sunday in their assigned locations around the church without ever having any relief. If you would like to serve as a member of the Guest Services Team please let Steve Steelman in the church office know!

Church members voted at the September business meeting to hire a professional roofing consultation company to do a survey and provide suggestions as to how will be the best solution for our Sunday School building roof. On Friday (September 22) the first step in finding a solution to our dangerous roof situation was conducted by taking samples of our current roof. Samples were taken from several different areas around the roof along with many photos inside and out of the building and roof structure. I was present during the on-site survey and have a sample of the present roof materials that we currently have on our Sunday School building. The top layer of roof is a plastic substance with layers of tar and other materials under it. All roofing material was very wet under the top coat of plastic. There are at least 4 layers of roof materials that were found during the survey. The Trustees along with the Safety Committee are awaiting results from the survey and that will guide us in the direction that should be taken in getting the dangerous roof leaks stopped.

First Baptist Church Safety Committee members are Pat Carver, Rick Currin, Karen Fowler, Mike Hopson, Mike McGuire, Greg Mitchell and Walt Shurden. Please feel free to let any of us know of any safety concerns that you have at First Baptist Church

Thank You

Dear Faith Family, Thanks so much for the prayers, cards, calls and visits during my stay in the hospital. Your kindness and thoughtfulness made such a difference. I especially want to thank Pastor Jon for the talk we had. I love my Faith Family. JoAnn & Cindy Whorley

I want to thank everyone at First Baptist for all the love and support you have given over the years. I’ve had many health problems, yet I feel very blessed. God’s love and help and everyone’s prayers have pulled me through every time. I cannot tell you how much you have all meant to me over the years. I love you all, Bill Harris

We sincerely appreciate all the church has done for Idella and for what you are continuing to do for her. You have given her a better quality of life than she could have otherwise had and we are very grateful. George & Jean Williams

(brother-in-law and sister of Idella Smith)

Dear Faith Family, What a blessing to be a member of First Baptist Church where there is love and people helping others. I do not have enough words to thank Rick Currin for making and installing a hand rail for me. Praise God for the good deacons, like Rick, at our church. In His Love, Nita Honey

We will observe the ordinance of

the Lord’s Supper October 8 at all three of our worship services.

Dear Congregation of First Baptist Church, We would like to thank you all for the most generous and thoughtful gift basket you gave us while we were staying in your town. Our stay in Fayetteville was such a wonderful experience. Everyone we met was so kind, caring and generous. Since returning to our Florida home we have been telling our friends and neighbors how well we were taken care of in Fayetteville. You all at First Baptist Church truly live a Christian life and follow the footsteps of Jesus Christ. May God bless you all. Harry & Peggy Falco Ft. Myers, Florida
