Who As the new school year gets into full swing I would like to
once again take this opportunity to describe our program forthose of you who may not be familiar with Bay Cove
Academy. Bay Cove Academy is now entering its 36thschool year! We are a small, therapeutic school located in
the Coolidge Corner area of Brookline that specializes inworking with students ages 12-21 from the greater Boston
area whose academic, social and/or emotional needs exceedwhat the public schools can provide. We have a vigorous
academic program that is well integrated with the clinicalcomponent as well as our award winning career
development and transitional component. This newsletterwill briefly highlight the three components of the school, but,
for a more in-depth look, please visit our website atwww.baycove.org/academy

consists of three full time licensed independent social workerswho provide individual therapy to each of our students.Clinicians also lead therapy groups, work closely with
families, and act as case managers with regular communicationwith all external agencies and providers involved in the
student's life.
Social Thinking Group
This expert team offers not only emotional support to ourstudents but also acts as a resource for our staff. The clinicalcomponent is well integrated into all aspects of the school andworks hand in hand with both the teaching staff and the careerdevelopment staff to aid in the understanding and treatment of
the emotional make up of each of our students.
Our career development component is designed to helpstudents learn about the world of work through hands-on paid
internships at job sites in the community. They learn all aspectsof employment from how to get a job to how to keep a job to
even how to leave a job. They learn by doing, by holding a jobin their field of interest.
