PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
Dear Families,
We have had a great start to the school year. Thank you to the entire
Woodland community for working together as we added staff and re-
configured classes. It was well worth the effort! Your participation in the
Meet The Staff and Mathematics Night was greatly appreciated.
Our mathematics focus will continue as staff look at data to determine
strengths and next steps for our students. We will be looking at EQAO re-
sults and year end assessments during the October 7th, PA Day. Our staff
are very proud of the results for the grade 3 and grade 6 EQAO assess-
ments from last spring (Percentages of students achieving level 3 or 4
Grade 3: Reading 57%, Writing 86%, Mathematics 79%, Grade 6: Reading
95%, Writing 100%, Mathematics 74%. Both our grade 3 and grade 6
math results were well above the Board and Provincial results. Well done!
Congratulations to all our students who participated in the T-Shirt Design
Contest. We had 14 entries. Isabell Bourne received the most votes by school
council. Well done!
The Wolves were very active in sports in September. Congratulations to the
Junior Co-ed Soccer Team for playing so well through the rain. The Co-ed
Intermediate Soccer Team were finalists at their tournament. Throughout
October, students are participating in Cross Country and Intermediate Vol-
leyball . Go Wolves! Thank you to our staff for coaching.
I wish all our families a Happy Thanksgiving!

Grade 8 Students and Parents: Mark Your Calendars!
Starting high school is a huge step in a student's life.
While it's definitely an exciting time, it also brings with it many questions, such as "What's life in high school
really like? What programs and options are available to help me achieve my goals?"
A great way to have your questions answered is to attend an open house. Grade 8 students and their families
are invited to attend High School Open Houses from November 28 to December 1.
Students attending our school have the option of attending St. Catharines Collegiate or Sir Winston
Churchill according to their program needs.
High School Open House Dates and Times:
Sir Winston Churchill Secondary: Tuesday, November 29 - 6:00 p.m.
St. Catharines Collegiate: Monday, November 28 – 6:00 p.m.
