A man of God and one who has practiced his Obligations inside and outside of the lodge, WB Richard is the perfect example of a just and upright brother. He is always quick to offer help or lend a helping hand. When there are jobs to be done or problems to be solved, he just doesn't look around - he takes action. When we are at the point of hoping that "somebody will take care of that" and don't get around to doing anything, WB Richard is the person who does something. WB Richard and I met around five to six years ago when I first came to Apache Lodge and we became friends ever since. We grew closer together when I was appointed Jr. Deacon and him the Tyler. I remember being nervous the first few times and he would share a joke or two or coach me to make me relaxed and put me at ease. He was also my mentor when I first tried to learn the Lecture of the EA Degree. He volunteered to do the Bible Presentation when Bro. Sam got sick and he takes pride in doing the part of the First FC in the MM Degree. You could count on him to sit in any of the Officers Chair if needed. He once told me that the rings on my fingers, the pins on my lapels and the emblems are merely outward signs to show the world that we are a member of this great institution but if we're not sincere at heart, all these would not mean a thing! Thank you WB Richard for your friendship, your counsel and mentoring, thanks for the laughs and see you back in the Lodge!!! Dinner at 6:00pm Meeting at 7:30pm

…from the East Brethren, This month I would like to dedicate this Trestle Board to honor a dear and beloved friend, Brother Mason and mentor - Worshipful Brother Richard Cain.

Although we are of different ages, different background and have different interests, it is certain that we all have one thing in common: our admiration for WB Richard Cain.

… from the West

Brethren,

There are a number of qualities that set Freemasonry apart from other organizations. One has to marvel at the antiquity of the Craft - owing to its astonishing continuity - and a global interest in the Fraternity that spans many cultures and national borders.

I was raised a scant four years ago, but in reflecting upon the obvious value of Speculative Ma-sonry, I have come to believe that the true power of the Fraternity is that learning and teaching are fundamental to the Craft.

Learning and delivering ritual in the Lodge is a valuable discipline, with benefits that can last a lifetime. I urge all members of Apache #69 to step forward and volunteer to learn and teach part of our time-honored message.

Jeff York Senior Warden

… from the South

Brothers, My Brothers, I would like to reemphasize the value of studying—not just reading, but studying our rituals, especially the lectures associated with each degree and the monitors. They are a wealth of information and inspiration and go far in helping you to gain a better understanding of your Brothers and the Blue Lodge. Given that this will be read by Brothers from Entered Apprentices through Master Masons, I will not go into specifics, but I will state that you will be amazed if you have not already done this. And I deliberately relate these revelations (or renewals) to the visits several of us have made to our ailing Brother Richard—what a man, what an inspiration, what a Brother! I personally attribute my appreciation (yes, appreciation!) of my visits to the insights and strength gained from Masonic Ritu-al—and remember, it is not Masonry alone as Masonry is, “A handmaiden to your religion.” Preachy, Maybe? Masonry, definitely!

In brotherly Love,

Ed Fox Junior Warden

… from the Secretary’s table Brothers,

2017 DUES

Masonic year 2016 is coming to an end, and with it many changes, from the Worshipful Master to the Tyler and to what will be the 2017 Dues amount. Several have asked if there will be any change, up or down. This will be decided by the incoming Worshipful Master with the assistance of the incoming Treasurer and Secretary. The 2017 Apache Dues Cards have arrived from AZGL but until the Apache 2017 dues amount has been decided upon, please, please, do not send any funds until that decision is arrived at. It will only require this office to request additional funds from you or having the Treasurer cut a refund check, doing both will be a unnecessary cost to the Lodge.

Brother Walt Winder

Brother Walt laid down his Masonic tools for the last time on the 25th of September 2016. Brother Walt was elected into Apache on the 10th of October 1995 and Raised on the 16th of January 1996.

Brother Walt family has requested a Masonic funeral which will be held on the 14th of October 2016 at 9:30 am at the Apache Wells Community Church, 2115 W. Gayridge Road, Mesa, AZ 85215 (480) 981-0327. Interment location has not been determined at this time.

If you can attend, lets send off Brother Walt surrounded by his Brothers.

Brother Richard Cain

This past week, WM Ross, JW Ed, Secretary and other Brothers have visited Brother Richard. He had a slip in his health that required hospitalization overnight but is back home now. WM Ross presented Brother Richard with funds from the WM account to assist Brother Richard with his medical bills. Which, more then the amount, it showed what the words “Brother” and “Fraternal” really means. Thank you Worshipful for reminding us.

OCTOBER 2016

The York Rite is made up of a lot of bodies (topic for next article); the three most known are the Royal Arch Masons (Red Coats), the Cryptic Masons (Purple Coats), and the Knights Templar (Black Uniforms, spiffy hat, and sword). The Arizona York Rite just finished up its Annual Communications and you should be pleased that Apache Lodge members were highly visible in two of the orders: WB Bill Greenen just completed his year as the Most Illustrious Grand Master of Arizona Cryp-

tic Masons—he will be forever known as a “Most Illustrious Grand Master”. WB “Mac” McClintock was just installed as Grand Commander, Knights Templar Arizona. Brother Lowell “Ed” Fox appointed to several committees in the Arizona Grand Commandery. Several of our Brothers (Tim, Kurt, Gary and myself) performed major ritual parts in opening

the Grand Council. For those who may be interested in the York Rite, talk to Tim Arimborgo, myself (Ed Fox), WB Bill Greenen, or WB Mac McClintock.

Grand Commander’s Notes

September 2016

This is the 26th annual for the Colorado River Fall Festival where all the Degrees of the York Rite except the Blue Lodge Degrees are given at one 2 ½ Day Festival in Laughlin, Nevada. The festival takes place at the Riverside Hotel and Casino on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday October 16th through October 18th. There are Ladies activities for the wives of the attendees or their significant others. This will be the last festival until 2017. So, if you wish to become a Knight Templar this year and receive the special Knight of Malta Jewel, you need to register now and also fill out a petition for the York Rite. You can get these petitions from WB Bill Greenen, Brother Tim Arimbargo or Brother Ed Fox. This will be fun and I hope to see you there in Laughlin! Fraternally,

Darius “Mac” McClintock, KYCH GRAND COMMANDER KNIGHTS TEMPLAR OF ARIZONA
