PRINCIPAL’S CORNER
As mentioned in our Newsmaker section this month,
congratulations to 5th
grade student Evelyn Spayd for being one of
two students county wide to win the Passport to History award.
Also, congratulations to Ms. Cameron , 4th
grade teacher, for being
one of two teachers county wide to win the Susan Lucas Award for
educators who share the vision and passion of teaching American
History to our school children. Go Aston!!
All of our students in grades 1-5 are using RAZ Kids this year. I
encourage all of our parents to become involved with the program
at home as often as you can. This computer based program
provides another opportunity to help your children and our
students become better readers. If you have any questions
regarding the program, please contact your child’s teacher.
As per the letter that went home on September 30, 2014, I will be
leaving Aston Elementary School at the end of December upon my
retirement from education after 44 plus years. It is never easy to
walk away from a profession in which you have spent so many
years of your life. But, I know that this time has come for me.
Again, I thank you all for working with me over the last 9 plus years
to make Aston a better place for all of our students and staff.
Thank You,
Mr. Bender

Plimoth Plantation Visit
Our Fourth and Fifth grades had the unique
experience of a visit from two Colonial Teachers
from the Plimoth Plantation. They shared what life,
from a pilgrim’s perspective, would have been like in
a 17th
Century English Village. Some of our students
had the chance to try on clothes that pilgrim children
would have worn during that time period.
