Why did you decide to teach at N.U.? I decided to teach at North Union because I love the small town area and the administra-tors were very welcoming. I also love the use of technology here at North Union.

Do you have anything that you are really excited to teach this year? This year I am very excited to teach the im-portance of learning Spanish as a second language.

What You will Need:

● Pipe Cleaner ● Fake leaves● Google Eyes● A stem ( use twigs, acorns, popsicle, etc.) ● Orange Yarn● Scissors ● Glue

Instructions:1. Start by wrapping the yarn around the palm of your hand make sure you wrap around your hand tightly, and keep on wrapping the yarn.

2. Carefully take the string off you hand and take a another separate string and tie it in the middle so there is little loops.3. Take the scissors and cut the loops so it looks like this.4. Take the pipe cleaner and wrap it around the stem and curl it.5. Insert the stem in the pom-pom you can use glue if you want it to be more secure. Then glue the eyes on the pom-pom. What did you do on your trip to Spain?When I was in Spain, I traveled all over the country as well as traveled throughout Europe. I enjoyed becoming familiar with other cultures and becoming more fluent in Spanish.

What is your favorite experience from college?My favorite experience from college was studying abroad in Spain.

If you could travel any place you wanted to where would you go?If I could travel anywhere, I would travel to South America - Argentina, Chile, Peru ... I have never been there and I'd love to further my knowledge of the Spanish-speaking world.

Bendable Smartphone There is a new trend in smart-

phones coming out. At the head of this trend there is LG and Samsung. The big idea is that the phones will have a curved shape and a slightly

Congratulations to those who made it into Future City! Those people would be Cameron T., Audra A., Evan W., Lacie N., Caleb B., Josh C., Isaiah K., Sum-mer S., Alexis J. and Anna A. You will be expected to attend almost every meet-ing. So far, we have come up with where our city is going to be. It’s going to be in the Rainbow! Our city’s name is Anemoi Iris! Anemoi is Greek for clouds. Iris is the Greek goddess of Rainbows. We are work-ing on the foundation for our city currently. We are also working on SIM City. We are making great progress so far! Mr. G. is in charge!

The assembly’s we’ve had this month included a pep rally for sports & fundraiser information. The pep rally recognized fall sports and all of the students that participated. The fundraiser part recognized the big salespeople! also, rewarded the three top sellers from the magazine sale with the chance to throw pies in Mr. Burggraf’s face! The last assembly was fun with random fall

sports participants selected who thencompeted in various races.

Flatten fruit slices in a small pile of granulated sugar to make 2 1/2 triangles. Cut one long edge of each fruit slice, about 1/8 apart, to make bristles. Use a dot of icing to secure fruit slices to cookie sticks.2. Cut a thin strip of Fruit Roll-Up and attach above bristles, securing with icing, if necessary.

Halloween night is a fun cheerful time to get lots of candy. There is a creature called the jack-o-zombie that rests in a secret spot with its best friend the batigator, only to rise on Halloween night. This was the night they were chosen to carry on the tradi-tion when they were middle school aged. Every ten years ending in three, on Hallow-een night they get their revenge. They hunt down those in the worst costumes in small towns to kid-nap in their sleep on Halloween night. If you are one of the hunted we will miss you here at NUMS. Don’t feel bad, they are just ex-cited to have their break for the rest of the year, by passing their job on. Goodbye, I hope most of you survive. Trick or Treat!

The Government Shutdown By: Dezrae M.

I am sure we all have heard that our gov-ernment has shut down. I figured you may want some information on what it is affecting here in Ohio and surrounding states. The national parks and monuments were closed immediately. It was a worry that if the shutdown lasted past the end of October, veterans who receive benefits could be cut. Some research into life-threating illnesses will be stopped. Even kids who are underage with diseases will not be treated. People who even work to protect us from terrorists will work without pay until the government is back up and run-ning. Since October 1st, 6,000 Ohioans have filed for unemployment benefits. Cash, food and food stamps were sent out within the first 10 days of October. If this problem isn’t fixed by November it will be wide spread hunger across America, be-cause they do not have access to basic food pro-grams. People who are food inspectors will lose their job, so our food could have many different things in it. Farmers who are in government pro-grams will not get the money they were allocated from the government. Woman and infants who get Wic will not be able to get those supplies. Now that the Government is back up and running things will eventually go back to normal. But, the thing is the Government will re-shutdown in January. If the GOP (Grand Old Party) doesn’t agree to the presented terms the government will shut down in the next 90 days.
