You’ve heard the phrase “you don’t know what a person is going through until you’ve walked in their shoes”. What if a person has no shoes? On October 27 we are going to ask our church family to learn what it means to walk in the shoes of someone who doesn’t have any. We are asking everyone to bring a pair of new or gently used shoes to donate to the close to one- billion people in our world who walk without shoes every day. We will encourage everyone, who is able, to leave their shoes at the church that morning and go home barefoot. We will literally walk in the shoes of those who have none. Not only will this raise awareness in us about the deep poverty issues that are prevalent in our world today, it will give us a sense of what one-billion people face each day. For those who are unable to go barefoot, we will ask that you bring a second pair of shoes to donate. Some people may ransack their closets and have multiple pairs of shoes to donate. No matter if it’s one pair or 10 pair every shoe makes a difference. Also, on October 27 we will have the incredible opportunity to meet the leader of Cuban Connection Ministries, the ministry our church partners with in Cuba. Willie Santiago will be in the States and share with us for a few moments in the morning service the needs, ministry and revival that is happening in Cuba. You will be amazed at what the Holy Spirit is doing, and the difference Peace Church is making. So, join us on October 27, to not only hear the difference Peace Church is making around the world, but also for an experience that you will remember for the rest of your life. Stephen’s Ministry Q & A

What is Stephen Ministry?

Stephen Ministry is a system through which members of Peace Church are trained and organized to help provide Christian caregiving to members of our congregation and community. This program multiplies the amount of caring ministry Peace Church can providing by giving us a whole team of skilled caregivers who are equipped to bring Christ’s healing love to people who are grieving, in crisis, or experiencing other stresses in life.

On November 2, members of our Peace Church family will be traveling on a mission trip to Haiti. While there we will be spending time in the town of Duplan. We will be learning about and worshiping with the people of Duplan, and we will spend time building a secondary school there. We will have the privilege of visiting St. Vincent’s orphanage in Port-au-Prince, meeting and making a meal for the 60-70 children that live and go to school at St. Vincent’s, which is the only orphanage/ school in Haiti that serves children with all kinds of disabilities. The Haiti Mission Team will gratefully accept any monetary donations—but we would really like to ask for your prayers as we prepare! Please pray for the people of Haiti, and those going on the trip, especially those for whom it is their first mission experience.

This series will include many challenges, youth testimonies, and our own campaign to change the world. Hope to see you each week.

4:12 Student Ministries Hole in Our Gospel Challenge

The average American uses 170 gallons of water a day. Over 1 billion people a day go without access to clean water. Our youth group has been issued the challenge during our series about reaching the world with God’s love by raising $500 for charitywater.org. 100% of the money raised during our 6-week study goes to families in other countries who don’t have access to clean water, and provide their villages with projects to begin changing the face of the water crisis. Peace Youth will be challenged to raise money through LIFEgroup projects, campaigning, and sacrifices like our fasting drive. Together we can start repairing the hole and reach out in God’s love to those in need.

Visit http://my.charitywater.org/412-student-ministries--peace-umc, for more information or to donate.
