Common Core State Standards emphasize students reading complex text on grade level and above. This institute will focus on how to acutally take this work to the classroom level and support teachers to enable this shift to take place. Registration is $100. The Center for Reform of School Systems (CRSS) will offer a ½-day symposium, The Media: Best Friend or Worst Enemy, on Wednesday, October 17. The session will address how positive media relations are an important aspect of reform governance and how school leaders should respond when news is bad. It is designed to be very interactive and will feature an original CRSS case study, governance scenarios, and small group activities. Symposium faculty will be CRSS President Cathy Mincberg and Drive

Full registration payment is due by October 1, 2012. A late registration fee of $150.00 will be charged for registrations received after October 1, 2012. Pre-registration Refund and Cancellation Policy: Refund requests, cancellations or substitutions must be made in writing. A full refund will be given for cancellations received on or before September 7th, and a 50% refund if received from September 7th - September 30th, 2012. No refund given after September 30th. Cancellations or no-shows on October 17th will not receive a refund and will be billed the full amount. Purchase orders will not be accepted for those registering on-site.
