We, the parish family of Our Lady of Nazareth, do hereby covenant ourselves both individually and collectively to God , our Father, by working to accomplish the goals set forth below. Having been called by God, our Father, we are united by our commitment of service to others as living witnesses of the life, death and resurrection of Christ as taught by the Scriptures and His example. We, who are called to be ministers, missionaries and priests covenant ourselves to the following: To develop authentic and meaningful liturgical celebrations to praise God and intensify our faith. To advance the physical, social and emotional well-being of the parish family and the human community by caring for the needs of the aged, poor, lonely, racially exploited, socially oppressed, helpless and suffering people. To provide ample social activities so that we might develop as a parish family. To provide continuous religious education and formation for all parish members. To provide adequate physical surroundings, financial resources, and management to implement this covenant. So help us God. Flu Shots will not be given this year at OLN, however, flu shots are offered at CVS, Kroger and your doctor’s

ST. FRANCIS HOUSE is in need of CANNED SOUP. Please be generous to those less fortunate in our Valley.

Question of the Week Luke 18:1-8

Has God ever seemed distant, un-hearing, or unconcerned in regard to my prayer? What/who strengthened my trust in Him? Family Question: Have I known times when it seemed that God was not listening to my prayers? What helped me to be patient and trust that God would answer my prayers?

One way that Catholics can respond positively to Laudato Si' is by sharing rides to Sunday Mass, parish events, meetings, and school. Cities such as Roanoke have more tightly clustered parishioners. There are many opportunities for folks to carpool and reduce their use of fuel. Carpooling can also serve as an extra way for all of us to get to know one another and ease parking issues. Did you know? 78% of Americans do not carpool. Doing so could cut out as much as $600. a month from commuting costs. Carpooling twice a week could keep 1600 pounds of greenhouse gases out of the air. Conversations with Pope Francis's "Care for our Common Home" continue Tuesday October 18th at 7:00 pm in the Conference Room. The topic is Transportation and we welcome Cristina Finch who will share with us about transportation issues in Roanoke. All are welcome.

"Grief is HARD work". While facing and dealing with this 'hard work' - we would like to help you on this journey. Come join in a confidential and safe setting for help along the way. Deacon Dick Surrusco will lead the session on Thursday, October 20th. Three thoughts to reflect on: 1. What do you want to remember? 2. What do you need to remember? (Like Legacy) and 3. What do you want to forget? And on Thursday, November 10th , come for "Hope and Hot Chocolate" to help prepare for the holidays. Lead by Sandra Phillips with Good Samaritan Hospice. All sessions will be held in the OLN Library 5:30-7:00 pm. Please contact Nancy Gillespie at 774-9708 - if you will be attending. All family and friends are invited and welcome.

How often do we think about doing something for ourselves spiritually - refocus our priorities and lives? That is exactly why Our Lady of Nazareth offers Christ Renews His Parish (CRHP). A parish retreat focused on personal renewal and ultimately, renewal as a spiritual community. The next woman’s weekend is October 22-23 and the men’s weekend October 29-30. Please see our web site for more information or contact Karen Melendez 540-774-0066 X15 [email protected].

The next Health Luncheon will be on Tuesday, October 25th from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. Kinuko Jambor will teach Japanese Flower Arranging. Bring your own lunch and a vase or dish with a “frog” or oasis to hold your arrangement. Maggie will provide the flowers. Ladies & gents...this is a fun event!! Contact Maggie at 774-0066 ext. 21 to reserve your spot.
