ANNOUNCEMENTS WELCOME ! If you are a visitor or new to Mt. Lebanon United
Methodist Church—we’re glad you’re here. Please sign the attendance
sheet in the pew. Worship at our church is a joyful, prayerful, music-
filled, traditional experience. We worship to glorify God and build up
the community of believers to live in this world as followers of Jesus
Christ.
The 8:30 am service meets in Sanner Chapel, immediately inside the
front entrance of the church, and the 10: 45 am service is in our beautiful sanctuary.
Kids Praise, a special worship service for ages 3 through 3rd grade, takes place during
our 10:45 Sunday service. For more information:

Christian Ed Collection
Brick by Brick—Construction Project in Zimbabwe
Throughout October, MLUMC’s Christian Ed students are
collecting donations for renovations at a Nyadire health
clinic . These much needed improvements are for a clinic
that serves as the only source of health care for thousands of
people in rural Zimbabwe. Money for renovations comes
from The Nyadire Connection and other United Methodist
Churches in the US and Norway. MLUMC’s goal this year is
to raise $700 with 100% of donations going directly to
building clinics. Informational fliers and a display are
located in the Narthex. Checks can be made to MLUMC
with Zimbabwe clinics in the memo line. For more
information, please see Kim Rhoton or www.nyadire.org.

up after the sale.
There will be a pre-sale on Friday,
November 4th from 3-6 p.m. for church
members and invited guests.
Why should we care? Nearly 80% of our
church's mission budget comes from our
rummage sale proceeds. As a church we
want to continue to support our long-term
commitments to Africa, Europe, the
Caribbean, and disadvantaged sections of
our country.
If any questions, please call Nancy
Marshal (412-221-9699) or Lori Barr
(412-851-8425).
You can support the rummage sale and
missions in two ways:
Donation of your items. Contributions
include clothing, housewares, furniture,
jewelry, books, children’s clothing, toys
Christmas items and decorations. We
cannot accept computers, older TVs, or
non-working appliances. Please bring you
donations to Asbury Center. As always,
we have volunteers with trucks who can
pick up large pieces.
Donation of Your Time. We need
volunteers to set up and sort items
starting the Wednesday before the sale,
to work during the actual sale and clean
Saturday, November 5
Fall Rummage Sale
Now is the time to bring your treasures to
the alcove in Asbury Center, as the
November 5th Rummage Sale approaches.

ACHTUNG! ATTENTION! What? First planning/informational meeting for partnership trip to Zwickau, Germany
Why? Since 1996 we have visited our partner church about every 4 years
Who? Anyone of any age who would like to travel, experience new things, grow
spiritually and globally, and connect with our partners
When? October 25 after Terrific Tuesdays at 7:30 pm
Where? Welcome Center
The goals of our first meeting will be to present basic information about the trip and
the partner visit, poll potential participants about dates mid-June to end of June,
discuss possible cities to visit before and after the Zwickau visit, and discuss costs
and fundraising. (There will also be additional assistance from the Mission Commission
for youth.) This experience is usually about 2 1/2 weeks long. Although German is a
plus, there will be plenty of English speakers who will help you!
Fundraisers? Yes, two have already been held, and Kim Palmer is already preparing
for another German dinner in January.
What makes summer 2017 especially good?
This is the 500 year anniversary of the Reformation (Martin Luther in eastern Germany),
and there is also much to be learned regarding the refugee crisis, toward which we and
our partners have donated time and money.
So, if you have been thinking about going with us sometime, this may be the year. Bring
your thoughts and questions to the meeting.
QUESTIONS, contact: Deanna Baird ([email protected]) or 412-606-4719
ACHTUNG! ACHTUNG! ATTENTION! ATTENTION!
If you would like to understand more of that German,
we have a class for you. Wunderbar!
Starting on Monday, November 14, a beginner's German class taught by Deanna
Baird will start and continue through Monday, January 30. We will meet from 7-8:15 in
the Welcome Center. This first term will focus on the basics (numbers, family,
weather, foods, leisure activities, etc.) and on typical beginning conversation/
questions. We will also focus on sounds so that those going to Zwickau
can sing the songs.

Welcome New Members
Beverly, Joseph & Robert Festor Tim & Anne Stokes
Last Sunday the congregation received new members— Beverly and Robert Festor, and
their adult son, Joseph; and Tim and Anne Stokes. The Stokes family were not at the
service, as they were attending to the birth of their son, Dexter. We look forward to
meeting him!
Members of the household of God,
I commend these persons to your love and care. Do all in your power to increase their
faith, confirm their hope and perfect them in love. - The United Methodist Hymnal
Although priority will be given to those going to Zwickau, others may also join this
class. There will be a $35 fee, which will go to the Mission Fund to help fund that trip.
Please sign up with Deanna Baird ([email protected]), 412-606-4719, by
November 7; there will be a maximum number to the class. Beginning in March
there will be a second term that will go beyond the basics; people with basic
knowledge may wish to sign up for that.
