Words of welcome from our President

Welcome! The Sangamon County Junior High Schoolmasters are proud of all of the hard work that our students demonstrate. We are appreciative of all of the efforts and support that you give to your child as well as all children! The Schoolmasters association is able to provide students a variety of opportunities in-cluding activities in academics, athletics, music, leadership, and character. We are thankful for the positive example that you model at all events. Thank you for your attendance and we hope you enjoy the events sponsored by the Sangamon County Junior High Schoolmasters.

Guest Conductor Bio:

Mr. Chris Gunn has been teaching band for 19 years and the Director of Music for the Taylorville High School for twelve years. His Band and Jazz Band have earned Superior Ratings in the IHSA State Music Contest for many consecutive years. Along with Band and Jazz Band, Mr. Gunn also teaches Audio/Video Production and Music Theory. He earned his Bachelor of Music (Music Education) degree from SIU Edwardsville in 1997. Prior to teaching in Taylorville, Chris has taught in the Nokomis, Farmington and LaHarpe schools. Mr. Gunn is active in the Illinois Music Education Association, serving as ILMEA District 5 President. Currently, he resides in Taylorville, IL with his wife, Shannon. They are proud of their three children: Meagan, Devon and Abel.
