Dear Members - Thank you everybody.

There is no appropriate time like now to say ‗thank you‘ to everyone in the Association who work tirelessly throughout the year to ensure that the Association is a fun and interesting organisa-tion to be a part of. Members of committees and their volunteers spend a massive amount of time and resources to ensure that every activity or event is successful and enjoyable not to mention the many meetings that take place for this to hap-pen. I am humbled to be a part of such self-giving. To all our members who regularly support

us with your attendance, thank you so much. All our work will be in vain without your support.

September was yet another great month with fathers and grand fathers given special treatment and some treats at our September lunch. Thank you for the very important and dedicated role you play in our families and we were privileged in a small way to show you our appre-ciation. The ten pin bowling that followed after the lunch was not such a happy event with some falling victim to the ‗old bones‘ syndrome. My advice to the over hillers and faint hearted – there are some physical activities that only the young can execute without consequences. I am speaking from personal experience. Sometimes you could injure your-self by just waking up in the morning! There was a report the next day that all supermarkets had run out of Deep Heat, Goanna Cream, etc. Seriously those that attended the bowling reported that it was a very well organised fun day! Numbers were a bit down at the Golf the fol-lowing weekend. I wonder why?

Keep those antihistamines handy! Oh of course not forgetting my favourite swooping magpies who because of their pro-tectiveness of their young will confine me indoors! Such is life.

October is going to be busy! Kicking off with our usual lunch on Octo-ber 10th. All proceeds from this lunch will assist in funding the outings and activities for our valued senior members. An exciting family fun day will take place on Saturday 23 October 2010. Tell us, we want to know

It is important to the AEAWA that members and their families get the best possible service from our com-bined endeavours. At our September 2010 Management Committee meeting it was agreed that the Asso-ciation implement a ―Complaints Policy‖ to ensure that all legitimate complaints from members of the As-sociation regarding any aspect of the Association's activities be directed to the President of the Associa-tion, preferably in writing. This is to ensure that complaints are dealt with in an effective and efficient man-ner that will result in an acceptable solution for all parties concerned. Anonymous complaints will not be entertained. A 'Suggestion Box' is also available at our monthly lunches It is normally placed at the front desk and we welcome any constructive suggestions that will assist us in improving the facilities or activi-ties of the Association. Please give us your contact details so we can provide you with feedback arising from your suggestions. Thank you for your kind co-operation.

How to comment, suggest, complain or provide feedback

You should always direct this correspondence to the President of the AEAWA. • in writing – letter or email • by telephone • in person

Contact details often change so please refer to the latest edition of our Newsletter or our web site for cur-rent details.

Project “Share Our History And Heritage” SOHAH As you can see if you visit the Photo and Newsletter sites you can see they are growing. What I would like to do is add more of your photos from our various gatherings and fill in some of the missing Newsletters that have been pro-duced over the years by various editors. For photos it would be best if you could burn copies onto CD‘s and then let me have that when you next see me. If you cannot do that but you could bring the old photos to a lunch then I can take photos of your photos.

In so far as old Newsletters/Programs are concerned I can either scan these or again take photos.

I am particularly interested in ―OLD‖ photos from your history, which would not necessarily be related to AEAWA/ECWA but more of a heritage theme. We already have a few of these posted. In total so far we have over 400 pho-tos uploaded to the internet under the Webmasters account.

Cheers Alan Jupp

QUIZ NIGHT What a wonderful night was had by one and all!

Thanks to Thelma and Team for putting together a most enjoyable night.

The participation was fantastic, people running up with their answer sheets in hopes of

being first so that they could win little “Frogs” (Freddo‟s, that is). Lots of laughter with the „antics‟ and „answers‟ that some teams came up with. By the way, Golf is not the most boring sport (as one of the an-swers given); it‟s quite enter-taining watching players throw their offending club or clubs into trees or bushes and then having to go search for them.

An important thing to know about having a good, and successful Quiz Night is to make sure that one is sitting at the “Smart People” table, I did (lucky for me!!).

Congrats to the winning table of Heather, James, Valerie, Val‟s Friend, Tyrrelle and Craig (last names have not been used to protect the „Innocent‟, and to make sure that I get to sit with them at the next Quiz Night!).

Kidding aside, everybody that was there contributed to a very successful night and hopefully we can look forward to another in the not too distant future.

A parting Question - “What is the longest word in the English dictionary” ?? “SMILES” - because there‟s a MILE between the S‟s (S MILE S).

Bye, Graeme...

BLACK AND BLING DANCE

―Black and Bling‖ was the theme of the evening and 130 guests attended this dance with most of the ladies looking beautiful in their black and shimmering attire. The band XPOZAY and DJ Black Diamond provided a good selection of dance music and this kept the majority of the guests on the dance floor for most of the evening. It was indeed an enjoyable night. A big ― Thank You‖ to Margaret Chowdhurie and the combined Seniors and Functions Commit-tee for again organising a suc-cessful dance function for our members and friends. ROBERT AND MAY HARDING One of the lucky raffle winners!
