Oconto Bird City Upcoming Events August / September / October August 6: “From Orioles to Ocelots” Joe Henry, an ecologist with the Wisconsin DNR will talk about the international conservation work to protect 54 of our local Wisconsin Neotropical migrant birds in their wintering habitat on the Osa Peninsula in Costa Rico. You will also learn about the wealth of biodiversity on the Osa Peninsula which ranges from Baltimore orioles to ocelots. The event will be at the Oconto City Hall at 6pm. August 20: “Bats, Bats ,Bats” Bring the kids! Jessica Kempke, intern with the U.S .Fish & Wildlife Service, will give a presentation about the mysterious world of bats and why we need them. This family events teaches about the different bats in our state and our need to protect them. The event will take place at Oconto City Hall at 6 pm. September 17: “Mason Bees, the unknown Garden Helper”Master Gardener Linda Warren will speak about Mason Bees. Learn how they can help you with the pollination of your garden and to safely attract them. The event will take place at Oconto City Hall at 6 pm. October 15: “ Compost and it’s positive impact” Patrick Virtues from the Oconto County Land and Water Resources will speak about Compost and other methods of recycling. Learn how to reduce your waste and save money at the same time. The event will take place at Oconto City Hall at 6pm.
