A Message From Our Executive Director
As we ring in 2018, the future looks bright for the Ocean City community! There are a number
of new businesses being completed and major renovations to existing businesses going on.
Also, congratulations to the town on celebrating 25 years of Winterfest- this year seemed to be
one of the most well attended ever.
We are excited to bring you the 2018 Ocean City Vacation Guide- Hot off the Presses! We had
a late-December delivery and so far, everyone seems very pleased and excited about the new
look and feel of the Guide. Thank you to the Town of Ocean City for your partnership as well
as all of our advertisers, contributing writers and photographers who helped make this an
outstanding resource for our guests. And of course, congratulations to our Publications
Manager, Nancy Schwendeman for her tireless effort on this huge project. Nancy is now
working on the Living and Working publication, and will be reserving space for that, as well as
the OC Map, as we move into the New Year. We are also thrilled to announce that the
chamber now will be producing the key card booklet for a number of properties in town. This
is a fantastic and cost effective way to get thousands of “touches” from our guests throughout
the season. You will be seeing more about these details in the coming months.
We are also thrilled to once again host the Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast Friday January 12th at the Clarion. The event
is organized in partnership with all of the Worcester County Chambers, including Ocean City, Berlin, Ocean Pines,
Pocomoke and Snow Hill. This event has been such an inspiring and uplifting occasion, where the entire
community comes together- our local citizens, community leaders, elected officials, church congregations, local
police and fire departments, the business community, the Board of education, educators and school representatives
and nonprofit organizers. It truly is the only event that spans the entire breadth of our community. This year’s
speaker is Victor Mooney – author of The Goree Challenge. His inspirational story is unbelievable! For more

The chamber is also planning to once again be represented at the Great American Outdoor Show, which is a large
scale consumer show in Harrisburg PA in early February. With over 1100 exhibitors and hundreds of thousands of

Finally, the 2018 legislative session will begin this month.
The chamber has a number of priorities, most notably our
work to sustain the Governor’s veto of the Paid Leave Bill.
We will be conducting weekly conference calls to discuss all
bills affecting our region on Mondays at 11am. If you are
