A word from THE EVENT OWNER & ORGANIZER

A word from Our PartnersDuring the time since we rst introduced OCBC Cycle Malaysia in 2011, our country has seen some

notable developments in the eld of cycling. Among the more recent ones has been Loh Sea Keong’s

ground-breaking inclusion in a UCI ProTeam, the rst Southeast Asian to become eligible to race on

UCI’s highest and most prestigious tier of cycling teams. Sea Keong has, of course, been a strong

supporter of OCBC Cycle Malaysia and we are pleased to witness the unfolding story of his journey

into cycling on the bigger stages. We hope his success will spur others on to greater heights as well,

and that OCBC Cycle Malaysia will indeed serve as a signicant platform to unearth the future

generation of great Malaysian cyclists. And who knows, this could very well include a toddler

participating in the Tricycle Ride of OCBC Cycle Malaysia 2014. Have a great ride, everyone.

Jeffrey Chew, Director & CEO, OCBC Bank (Malaysia) Berhad - Title Sponsor

“With OCBC Cycle Malaysia 2014 now just around the corner, we are all set for a thrilling weekend of

action both on and off the road at Dataran Merdeka.

OCBC Cycle Malaysia has grown tremendously since the inaugural edition in 2011 and we have now

introduced a number of new ride categories, including The Ultimate Foldies Challenge which caters to

the nation’s ever-growing Foldies community. There is a ride for all types of cyclists and we are proud

to be an event for the entire family.

We are very excited to be returning to Dataran Merdeka, the iconic Kuala Lumpur landmark which

hosted our very rst event. Our Sports & Lifestyle Expo will also be staged at Dataran Underground,

offering participants and supporters a huge range of exclusive deals and offers on cycling and lifestyle

products.

In order to deliver such an exciting event for our participants, we work closely with our various event

partners and in particular, we are very fortunate to work alongside title sponsor OCBC Bank

(Malaysia) Berhad.

We also receive outstanding support and endorsement from both the Ministry of Youth and Sports

and the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), as well as a number of other major Government agencies and

key stakeholders.

The event would simply not be possible without their support and we look forward to working

alongside them for many more editions of OCBC Cycle Malaysia in the future.

To our participants, I wish you all a great weekend of cycling and I look forward to seeing you on the

start line!”

Chris Robb, Managing Director, Spectrum Worldwide

A word from Our PartnersThe sport of cycling is currently enjoying tremendous growth in Malaysia and the overwhelm-

ingly positive response to OCBC Cycle Malaysia 2014 has been a true testament to this exciting

trend.

As we know, cycling is a fantastic way to lead an active and healthy lifestyle. I am excited to be

joining the thousands of other cyclists on Sunday, 19 January when I line up for The Challenge, a ride

which is sure to test our endurance and overall tness levels.

It is also great to see the strong participant numbers amongst our young cyclists. The Tricycle Ride,

The Kids Rides and The Junior Challenge have received great sign-ups in 2014 and I applaud all

parents who have encouraged their youngsters to take part.

I wish all cyclists a safe and enjoyable experience at OCBC Cycle Malaysia 2014!

Yang Berhormat Encik Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar, Minister of Youth & Sports

This year we have also placed a particular focus on cycling in Kuala Lumpur at night and as such, we

have introduced the Mayor’s Night Ride to take place on the evening of Saturday, 18 January.

To all the participants of OCBC Cycle Malaysia 2014, I wish you all a fantastic ride during this year’s

event. You are part of cycling’s growing resurgence in Kuala Lumpur and I commend you for taking

the opportunity to ride on closed public roads through the heart of our beautiful city.

Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has been very proactive in promoting the sport at a local level and we

believe OCBC Cycle Malaysia provides an outstanding platform to continue the growth.

I trust you will all enjoy the thrill of cycling through Kuala Lumpur during this year’s event and I look

forward to riding alongside you!

Y Bhg. Datuk Haji Ahmad Phesal bin Haji Talib, Datuk Bandar, Kuala Lumpur
