tory, Cape of Good Hope. The observations (except those of Febr. 10) were made with a Ring Micrometer; the faintness of the nucleus, the small aperture of the telescope (6.9 inches) and the unsatisfactory illuminating arrangements prevented the employment of the parallel wire micrometer (except on Feb. 10).

The stars of comparison a, 6, c, d, E, f, of which the places are given in the accompanying table, have

account of daylight, to obtain meridian observations of these stars sooner.

The mean place of the 71/y Mag. Star, employed as a Star of comparison by Mr. Ellery on Febr. 14, is also given , and results from 2 meridian observations made at this observatory. The corrections to give ap- parent place on Feb. 14 for this star are
