Draw special lines of Latitude on a world map.
Locate places in North America using Latitude and Longitude coordinates.

VOCABULARY
Absolute Location: describing location using grid coordinates, such as latitude and longitude
Relative Location: describing location in relation to someplace else (Las Cruces is north of El Paso, for example)
In today’s lesson and activities, we will be describing absolute location
ACTIVITY
Given a map of North America with Latitude and Longitude lines and cities marked on the map:
Find the coordinates of the cities and write them next to the appropriate city
Note: even though we all know that North America is in the Northern and Western Hemispheres, your coordinates still need to include the N-S and E-W part of the coordinates.
HOMEWORK
Given a map of North America with Latitude and Longitude lines and cities marked on the map:
Identify cities using their Latitude and Longitude coordinates
Remember that your parent/guardian must sign the assignment or it will not be accepted for scoring. Late work procedures will apply in this case.
