John Ashley Dickerson April 4, 1972 – November 16, 2016 In Loving Memory John Ashley Dickerson, 44, of Hope Mills passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 in Duke University Medical Center. Ashley was a faithful, devoted, and loving husband, father, son, and friend to many. He demonstrated his trust in God’s plan for him each day by wearing a smile, providing a good laugh, helping others, and loving his family. Ashley inspired those who knew him by achieving much more than many ever thought possible. At birth his parents were told he wouldn’t be able to walk, play sports, or live a long, healthy life. He defied all odds with pure faith in God and determination to prove everyone wrong. As a young man, Ashley was active in basketball and softball leagues within his church community. He later participated in recreation and travel softball leagues and traveled several states to play a game he loved dearly. Most people didn’t know the challenges he faced, which makes his quiet devotion to his team even more special. Each game was a victory no matter the outcome. Ashley’s devotion to his family was evident in everything he did. He found tremendous joy in working hard to provide for his family and took pride in his business accomplishments. Ashley accomplished a great deal more than many could ever dream in his short 44 years of life. He owned two successful businesses, traveled the world, and enjoyed abundant laughter and love. He was truly a quiet inspiration to everyone that knew him. Even though God took his pain away, those people he touched will carry on his memory. Ashley was the owner of Sandhills Automotive Refinishes, Inc. before its sale in 2015. He worked in the paint and body shop industry for nearly 20 years. Prior to owning his own business he was the General Manager of Raynor Supply. Over the years he became a respected member of this community and was looked to as an expert in the field. He later owned and operated AMD Ventures, Inc. which operates the local franchise for Spirit Halloween. Ashley owned both businesses with his wife and was the definition of a life partner to her. Throughout their marriage, he worked closely with her at work and at home. They made every decision together as a team and were a perfect complement to each other. Where one lacked the other excelled. Ashley loved his children dearly. He raised his daughter with incredible love and devotion over the years and often placed her above himself. Ashley’s son was so endeared to him and the two were inseparable. Ashley was his kids best friend; leading them as a shining example of life’s humor, love, devotion, and faith. A memorial service will be held at 1pm on Saturday, November 19, 2016 in Westminster Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends at Rogers and Breece on Friday, November 18 th from 6 to 8 pm in Rogers and Breece Funeral Home.
