WHAT IS OBESITY?
It means having too much body
fat.

Childhood Obesity
• A condition where a child ages 2-17 have to much body fat that negatively affects the child’s health or wellbeing.
• Childhood obesity has more than
tripled in the past 30 years
• The prevalence of obesity was higher for boys then girls in a
study done in 2009-2010.

• Research suggests that Caucasian children are at a reduced risk for obesity compared to African American /Hispanics.
• This has a lot to do with socioeconomic standing
• Culture to culture different foods are considered “healthy”

• Family; Eat a more balanced meals and snacks.• Engage in more physical activity• Be patient• Set good example for children (parents)
