Quartz gives your kitchen or bath a luxurious look, but is less expensive and more durable than marble. Quartz comes in many colors and offer consistency from piece to piece. LED Cabinet Lighting. Most of the time, overhead lighting in kitchens doesn’t give adequate focus to the countertop area, often shadowed by the cabinets. Under-cabinet lighting provides a great way to illuminate your countertop workspace. Music. If you like to sing in the shower, this trend is for you! Shower fixture manufacturers are now making showerheads with waterproof speakers that can be connected by Bluetooth to your music device. Let the music play! Wall-Mounted Toilets. These are great, especially for small bathrooms. The tank is typically placed behind the wall , with the bowl securely mounted on the wall. These toilets take up less floor space in your bathroom. Gray Color Schemes. Maybe it’s the popularity of the books, but homeowners are using different shades of gray to decorate their homes. Gray is a perfect neutral and will really show off pops of color in upholstery, knick knacks and furnishings. Transitional Style Kitchens. This “new” style of design blends the old with the new. For instance, you may use “traditional” style cabinets with modern countertops and fixtures. Or you may have an all white “modern” kitchen with a farm- style sink. Open Showers. Showers without doors or curtains can open up a bathroom and make it appear larger. Plus, they are great for people with low mobility! Before the craziness of the holidays arrive, here

are a few tips for organizing your home to get it

ready for company:

Use what the restaurants use and install

hooks under open shelving units. This

gives you extra space for hanging

coats, backpacks and umbrellas.

Install lockers for each family

member wherever space allows.

Everyone’s clutter can be not-so-

neatly tucked away, but you can close the door!

If lockers or hooks

aren’t feasible, assign

each family member a

sturdy metal bin to collect their

clutter and place it by your entry

door. You can customize them with

magnets or photos of each family member.

Corral your remote controls into a

wide-mouthed vase or other

container.

Baskets near your front door are a

great tool to keep wet shoes and

boots from ruining your carpet.

Simply line the basket with a washable

throw rug or towel.

A Grand Opening! This small kitchen was made to look bigger with a few small tactics and without adding space. Mocha-glazed white cabinets and in-

ceiling lighting help make the kitchen brighter and appear larger. The wall between the kitchen and

dining room was reduced to a half wall (foreground higher countertop) and bordered by decorative pillars (left of

“after” picture). This makes entertaining a breeze with a pass through right to the dining room.

Stainless steel appliances and decorative cabinet knobs complete the look! Projects designed and constructed by OAK TREE CONSTRUCTION SERVICES, Inc.OAK TREE CONSTRUCTION SERVICES, Inc.OAK TREE CONSTRUCTION SERVICES, Inc.OAK TREE CONSTRUCTION SERVICES, Inc.

Don’t have a shed? Store flatter

items, such as brooms and rakes, in

your garage between the studs and

use bungee cords over nails to hold them in.

Keep your kindling sticks, pine

cones, log starters, etc. in your

empty flower pots from the summer!

It not only adds a decorative touch, but keeps

your fireplace area clean and organized.

Get organized for the next planting

season! Label bulbs with a

permanent marker (directly on the

bulb) and store seed packets in a mason jar.

Make your holiday checklists! Plan

your gifts & party menus now, and

then shop & enjoy thru the fall!
