IDENTIFY the Types of Questions

• "Right There" QuestionsLiteral: Example: "Who gave John the dog?" The answer is stated right in the passage. To find it, recall information from or refer back to one place in the passage.

• "Think and Search" QuestionsInference: Example: "What was the same about every dog in the story?" Use memory or looking back at the passage. The answer is usually in more than one place. Information needs assembled for the answer.

• "Author and You" QuestionsEvaluative : Example: "How did John probably feel when he found the dog?" These questions cannot be answered just by reading the passage. Use what is already known, plus what is learned from the passage, to answer the question.

Read, or at least skim, the questions before reading any passage. While reading the passage, keep those questions in mind and underline words and phrases that might help find the correct answer.

Deal with the stress, anxiety, and fatigue

• SMILE (or chew gum) the motion activates the brain and relaxes the TMJ.

• BREATHE (through your nose) the cooler air cools the frontal cortex of the brain and deep breaths increase O2 to your body.• STRETCH (calf muscle) 1st muscle to tighten up under stress and signals fight or flight.

Excellence means when a man or woman asks of himself more than others do.

 Jose Ortega y GassetNEXT

RESTATE and PROVE IT

Restate the question and give a correct answer THEN write a sentence that supports the answer.  1pt for answer + 1pt for support = 2 point answer

Repeat this for a 4 point answer.1pt for answer + 1pt for support 1pt for another answer + 1pt for support = 4 point answer

Don’t Be Confused!

Two forces acting on the blocks as they slid down the ramp were friction and gravity.Friction affects the motion of the block by slowing it down. Gravity affects the motion of the block by pulling it towards the earth.

The absence of sea otters leads to a decrease in giant kelp beds because more animals would eat kelp if the otters were not eating them. Decreasing the amount of giant kelp would give snails less food to eat and their numbers would decrease.
