O' Level Additional Mathematics Paper 1 (Pure) Jan1971

description

Additional Maths was only regarded as merely another O'Level, for those who passed it, yet most of it would now be seen as of at least 'AS'-level standard these days! Furthermore, scientific calculators were not available, only 4-figure log. tables! You had only 2 hours in which to answer 6 out of 8 questions and how even the very brightest managed this is beyond me, when you consider the work required for Q5, for example. Paper 2(which I don't have!) was largely mechanics with a touch of statistics thrown in. By today's standards, an exam like this would definitely be regarded as 'AS'-level standard, and valued as half an A'level by universities, but not in those days!
