NYC FOIL Request transcript electronically submitted to Records Access Officer, Mayor's
Office of Media and Entertainment
RECORDS SOUGHT: Under the New York Freedom of Information Law, N.Y. Pub. Off. Law sec. 84
et seq., I am requesting an opportunity to obtain copies of public records that pertain to all
permits and licenses issued to States United to Prevent Gun Violence, also known as Ceasefire
USA, to produce a video titled Guns with History published on the YouTube website on March
17, 2015 at the url: https://youtu.be/1nAfWfF4TjM.
Included should be all relevant correspondence and emails related to this production. Further
included should be any special permits required for signage, proof of insurance and
prop/replica firearms used in accordance with State of New York and New York City gun laws
for which compliance is required for transport, delivery, receipt, possession and use at the
location where the video was recorded.
If there are any fees for searching or copying these records, please inform me if the cost will
exceed $20. However, I would also like to request a waiver of all fees in that the disclosure of
the requested information is in the public interest and will contribute significantly to the
publics understanding of compliance with applicable laws and licensing requirements. By way
of credentials, I am a field editor for a national periodical (GUNS Magazine/FMG
Publications/Publishers Development Corporation, 12345 World Trade Drive, San Diego, CA
92128) and author of the National Gun Rights Examiner column for AXS Digital Group LLC d/b/a
Examiner.com.
The information will be shared in a follow-up to my article published on March 17, 2015 titled
Fake gun shop video raises questions about truth, compliance with laws. The New York
Freedom of Information Law requires a response time of five business days. I note the Office of
Film, Theater and Broadcastings policy states Records that are determined to be responsive
and disclosable are, to the extent possible, made available to you within twenty (20) business
days after receipt of your request. If access to the records I am requesting will take longer than
this amount of time, please contact me with information about when I might expect copies of
the requested records. If you deny any or all of this request, please cite each specific exemption
you feel justifies the refusal to release the information and notify me of the appeal procedures
available to me under the law.
Thank you for considering my request.
