Meet The Artists

Rafael Agustin, co-creator, performerBorn in Ecuador, Rafa was undocumented in the US for 14 years and passed the time waiting for his green card by performing in such plays as Short Eyes, Quills, Roosters, La Victima and Blade of the Heat. He received both his B.A. and M.A. in Theater from UCLA and, more importantly, his Citizenship from the US government. He originated this role and was one of the co-creators of the project.

Dionysio Basco, performerDuring his twenty-plus year acting career, Dionysio (Dion) has credits that include a series regular role on NBC’s Saturday morning City Guys, a recurring role on A&E’s The Cleaner, and he even burned some rubber with Laurence Fishburne in Biker Boyz. He is happy to be returning to the stage with N*W*C.

Jackson McQueen, performerThis country boy with a great name hails from South Carolina. His credits include over 20 national commercials, BET and Comedy Central stand-up performances. To experience Jackson McQueen is to discover a phenomenon. Basically what he is trying to say is, “Can he borrow 5 dollars?” He is excited to be part of the N*W*C experience.

Speak Theater ArtsN*W*C is produced by Speak Theater Arts, a progressive theater company dedicated to presenting dangerously compelling original works. STA stage productions step outside the boundaries of most traditional theater by drawing from our diverse backgrounds. We’ve uprooted and redirect our past performance experiences in stand up comedy, slam poetry, television, education, graphic novels and hip-hop to redefine the live stage experience.

The company adheres to the mantra “Don’t be boring.” A fundamental objective of STA is to reach out to new audiences under the impression that today’s theater does not speak to them. School and community outreach as well as artist-in-residence programs are a fundamental component of our work as we strive to enhance cultural awareness, acceptance, and artistic risk-taking.
