be inspired Northwest Business Network Giving local businesses unique access to London 2012 opportunities Northwest companies have the opportunity to access new business that will be created from the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games; leading up to, during and after this prestigious event. Delivering the 2012 Games is a major undertaking for this country, requiring products and services to be provided from almost every business sector including construction, professional services, tourism, hospitality, sport, transport, retail, food and the creative sectors. England’s Northwest has a significant number of companies with a proven track record of supplying products and services to major sport events such as the 2002 Commonwealth Games, Athens 2004 Games, World Cup Football 2006, ICC Cricket World Cup (West Indies 2007), FINA Swimming World Championships 2008, 2010 FIFA World Cup (South Africa), Beijing 2008 and London 2012 Games. Companies from the region have supplied products and services such as; building services design for major sport stadium, sport venue consultancy, architectural services, planning & delivery of security services, ticketing, accommodation & hospitality services, production of bid documentation, legal services including the negotiation of sponsorship & merchandising deals, production of billboard printing and building wraps, design & post production, creating & managing event websites, provision of uniforms for event officials & volunteers and IT services. We want to inspire Northwest companies to win businesses from London 2012, by preparing companies to compete competitively. Most contracts will be let from mid 2008 and therefore the current imperative is for any interested company to think about whether they are ‘fit to supply’. It will be vital for companies to align their product or service to the requirements of the potential customers, offer good value for money and assurances around deliverability.
