Nurturing Father Program Program Outline: www.nurturingfathers.com Children need loving relationships with their fathers as well as their mothers in order to thrive. The Nurturing Fathers’ Program brings together men from all family circumstances (custodial, non-custodial, step-fathers, new fathers) who need help with understanding how to be nurturing and supportive, while also maintaining their authority and providing consistent guidance and structure. As a group, participants explore their experiences with their own fathers, and with the guidance of FNC facilitators, they learn about their children’s needs and how to meet them. They learn why they need to be their children’s first teachers, and how important it is to provide loving praise and a nurturing and secure environment for their children to gain self-esteem and confidence. Emphasis is also placed on maintaining a positive and supportive co-parenting relationship with the child(ren)’s mother, whether the parents are together or separated. Local Program: Tuesday Evenings 6-8pm ongoing @ The Community Action Family Center 90 Federal Street Greenfield, MA 01301. Program CO-Facilitators : David Connors, Michael Lewis, and Dominic Vellucci Support Group Facilitators: Jason Allen (Certified Peer Support Father of 7) Michael Fornier( Father of 2) Program Father: Wilfredo Leyro Has attended and completed the Nurturing Father Program twice in the past year Now currently attending weekly Fathers Support Group (3 rd time returning) He is open minded and desires to make a positive change in children’s lives. Wilfredo is always welcoming to participants and shares with the group his life experience and this group has helped him see his importance in children’s lives.
