Our new mineral-filled PULSE™ XT PC/ABS grades for exterior applications offer alternative solutions to PC/PET and PC/SAN at lower cost. PULSE™ XT7215 provides a 10 percent reduced density vs. currently used PC/PET products enabling lighter part weight and optimized costs. Its coefficient of linear thermal expansion (CLTE) enables an improved dimensional stability and a better fit and finish. PULSE™ XT9215 offers both higher flow for higher heat and/or tight-tolerance parts as well as best in class dimensional stability due to low CLTE. Both grades are produced with a new filler technology and contain Trinseo's MAGNUM™ mass ABS which is renowned for outstanding consistency and purity supporting easy coloring, cost-efficient processing, and superior surface quality.

EXTERIOR APPLICATION USING PULSE™ XT7215 AND XT9215

BMW roof trims benefit from PULSE™ XT7215

PULSE™ XT7215 provides the required low CLTE and high dimensional stability produced for a special version of the BMW 5 Touring.

BMW uses our mineral-filled PC/ABS mainly due to the low CLTE and the high dimensional stability of PULSE™ XT7215. It provides greater heat resistance than the mineral-filled ABS material originally intended for use. PULSE™ XT7215 offers high ductility and easy flow for greater design freedom, optimized wall thickness, and can be processed on even smaller machines allowing for improved cycle times. Additionally, it helps for a lighter part weight and the optimization of costs because of its significant density advantage.

PULSE™ XT7215 replaces PC/PET in Toyota RAV4 roof rails

Our mineral-filled PC/ABS provides several technical advantages to Toyota's SUV model, such as better dimensional stability, high flow and easy processing.

Toyota chose our mineral-filled PC/ABS for the roof rails on the new RAV4. With production in all regions and global availability, our plastic solution with a low CLTE can replace metal and provides technical advantages compared to an incumbent PC/PET solution. PULSE™ XT7215 shows better dimensional stability, high flow properties, and reduced molded-in stress. It offers an 8% density advantage vs. PC/PET and enables easy processing. Our mineral-filled PC/ABS is tested and validated to Toyota TSM5526-2 PC/ABS specification, and also validated with 1K and 2K paint systems.
