Richard Dawkins started a controversy when a woman said, "I honestly don't know what I would

do if I were pregnant with a kid with Down Syndrome. Real ethical

dilemma," and he responded with,

• "Abort it and try again. It would be immoral to bring it into the world if you have the choice." Dawkins later defended his advice:"If your morality is based, as mine is, on a desire to increase the sum of happiness and reduce the suffering, the decision to deliberately give birth to a Down baby, when you have the choice to abort it early in the pregnancy, might actually be immoral from the point of view of the child's own welfare."

• The child's welfare? The child will be thankful it was aborted? The child would later be offended it wasn't murdered?

RICHARD DAWKINS: "ABORT IT AND TRY AGAIN." Pastor Scott LaPierre

• What really surprised me though was the amount of outrage Dawkins' comment received, because here's the truth: if you believe in evolution you SHOULD agree with him! You should say, "We need to think about what's best for the advancement of the human race and that means removing from the gene pool those individuals threatening its progress...and if we're honest, there's no greater threat than those born with genetic disorders." And here's another painful, but equally true reality: this thinking isn't very far removed from Hitler's desire to eliminate the inferior people orUntermenschen (German for subhuman): Jews, Gypsies, Slavs, etc., to allow the superior Aryan Herrenvolk (Master Race) to develop.

• Dawkins mentioned morality: he said it would be immoral to give birth to the child. But if you don't believe the Bible, you CAN'T argue with him! If you disagree with him apart from Scripture what is your argument based on? It's based on absolutely

RICHARD DAWKINS: "ABORT IT AND TRY AGAIN." Pastor Scott LaPierre

• nothing more than your opinion! In the absence of Scripture, morality is completely subjective. While people try to identify right and wrong or good and evil without the Bible, their positions are based entirely on opinion. When one opinion differs from another, how is it determined which opinion is correct? Is it determined by which opinion sounds better? Is it determined by which opinion can find the most similar opinions? If the Bible isn't your authority on morality, the only weight behind your case is how well it can be argued...including debates about murdering babies. In other words, in the absence of Scripture, there is no argument against murdering babies; the absence of Scripture puts us in the days of the Judges when "Every man did what was right in his own eyes."

Waters Above, Solar System, Sun Moon

• Are Science and Creation Compatible?

• Think the story of creation, as described in the Book of Genesis, would hold water if subjected to scientific scrutiny?“Our findings show that a significant fraction of our Solar System’s water, the most-fundamental ingredient to fostering life, is older than the Sun,”

said Conel Alexander of the Carnegie Institution for Science, who took part in the research. The verses in Genesis talk about water, too—specifically, about what some say is the division between that water in space and the water here on

Earth: “And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament.”That was on Day 2—predating the sun by two days, according to the biblical order of creation. (Or so it seems at first glance.)What are religious Jews to make of such parallels between scientific findings and the biblical account of creation? That depends on whom you ask, of

course, with answers ranging, in essence, from “nothing” to “a great deal.”“These are totally separate things,” says Rabbi Yehoyada Amir, who heads the Israel Council of Reform Rabbis and is a professor of Jewish thought at

Hebrew Union College. It doesn’t even matter if science supports religious tenets, in his view: the Bible is here to teach us values and the role of mankind in the world, not to give us an accurate play-by-play of how the universe began.

But Nathan Aviezer, an Orthodox physics professor at Bar-Ilan University who grew up in Detroit and has written several books about the interplay of science and religion, argues that contemporary cosmology has gone a long way toward clarifying the previously opaque opening verses of the Torah.

Take that seemingly confusing part about water beneath the heavens and water above, for instance. In the past, Bible readers had to shrug off that heavenly water as esoterica that was beyond their understanding. Now we know that there is water in space—or, in the Bible’s words, “above the firmament.” The current findings provide a further boost to scientific support for a literal understanding of Day 2 of creation, says Aviezer.

“It corresponds even more strongly with what is written in the Bible,” says Aviezer. “It’s good for the Jews.”-www.haaretz.com, 13 November 2014

The theory of evolution is now considered a scientific fact throughout the academic world. Yet when faced with real scientific scrutiny, large holes are exposed and usually answered with one word: “time.” Those believing in evolution simply claim that the earth is millions, even billions of years old and evolved by itself.

Will man find the answer in his desperate search for the origin of life? The answer is yes, and the record is found in Revelation 6:15-16, “And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb.” That will be the end of the religion of evolution.(For more on Creation, read The Genesis Factor, Item 2239.)5014
