Here at The Loftman Company, we are the leading loft ladder, flooring and storage room specialists in the UK. Every member of our team is fully qualified and trained within their respective field; for instance our Roof window fitters are Velux Certified Installers and our Electricians are NICEIC Certified and City and Guilds Qualified. All our fitters also hold a CSCS Card.

Hatch Alterations & DoorsShould you require the conversion of your existing push-up loft hatch into a hinged drop down door compatible with operating pole you may want to consider replacing this with a new UPVC or Timber bespoke hatch. Complimenting all of our aluminium loft ladders the unobtrusive design caters for both the contemporary or traditional homes. We provide a range of hatches from UPVC, metal fire rated to Timber (bespoke/made to measure) hatches to suit any size.

All our fitters will be able to safely brace and remove ceiling joists to create a new or enlarged aperture ensuring the structural integrity of the ceiling is not compromised.

We can remove your existing hatches to replace this with a new timber lined and architraved hatch with hinged door for a practical, professional finish. We will paint for no extra cost and can also be insulated. We can also enlarge or relocate your existing hatch to more suitable locations if required.

We can offer UPVC (plastic) and metal fire-rated hatch options. Both of which come with an insulated door.

We install flooring of the highest quality. With our commercial sized 18mm, moisture- resistant, P5 grade Norbord flooring makes for the perfect surface for your loft. The grooved nature of the flooring means that we can install a solid, continuous surface without any gaps, using screws for the installation so any future need for cabling can be easily accommodated for.

Timber Cross-Bracing (100 - 175mm)Joist cross-bracing is used to elevate the floor above the existing insulation by 100/175mm. This method ensures the thermal insulation level is maintained and your U-Value is not compromised.

It also provides protection against stress on the ceilings beneath. Full length timbers are used for additional strength.

Loft-Legs (175 - 300mm)

One of our Award-winning floor systems. This method is required in new build houses where the insulation is so high above the existing joists and there are no load bearing internal walls, the cross- bracing method simply wont suffice.

This method is used to elevate the floor above the existing insulation by 175/300mm. This method ensures the existing thermal insulation level is maintained and your U-Value is not compromised. It also provides protection

against stress on the ceilings beneath and allows a small gap between the insulation and flooring for air to circulate.

A 175mm/300mm Loft Leg fixed on top of a 100mm truss or ceiling joist provides a light weight, cost effective solution. Developed by a team of engineers and designers the Loft Leg is strong; lightweight and manufactured in the UK from recycled polypropylene, to ISO9001 standards and has been mechanically tested by independent experts.

Loftzone Storefloor (300mm)

Award-winning LoftZone StoreFloor creates a lightweight but incredibly strong system of raised beams that supports a safe deck above your insulation. It’s the easiest way to create safe access to equipment in your loft, or simply to generate storage space while keeping your loft insulated to regulations.

Simple, Strong, Unique Design The patented StoreFloor loft storage system consists of only 3 parts: The metal Cross-Beams, which you screw the boards on to, and the recycled plastic TriSupports and Uni-Supports, which screw into your joists and carry the load.

Strong galvanized steel cross-beams The Cross-Beams make the raised deck safe to walk upon and faster to install. Beams are the only safe way to support loftboards,

and allow you to avoid inevitable obstructions on joists such as pipes or wiring. Other leg or stilt products are unable to do this.

Adjustable supports for irregularly spaced joists The Cross-Beams slide along the top of the Tri-Supports – to deal with the common problem of variable spacing between joists. Without this, the boards may not reach the next joist and will be unsafe.

Lighter and faster to install than timber Store Floor is much lighter and faster than using timber to raise the loft floor, and is a better insulator too - keeping your heating bills down. Designed to promote airflow to reduce condensation StoreFloor leaves an air gap underneath the boards, to prevent condensation.

New JoistIf the existing floor joists are not strong enough to take normal loading requirements, or you intend on using the loft to store extra heavy loads such as a room, we can install new loft joists adjacent to the current ones to provide additional load capacity.

We have been involved in insulating thousands of homes for many years now. As such you can rest assured our experience and quality of work will leave you happy and warm.

Loft insulation is a very effective way of preventing heat loss in your home. Around 25% of the heat you generate is lost through your roof so you can easily see why insulating your loft and be so effective at reducing this heat loss.

We offer a wide range of insulation materials. Whether you require your loft to be fully insulated or just a topped up we have an expert team on hand to advise on the current guidelines to ensure you have the correct level and type of insulation in your property.

It is really important to correctly insulate your home as it helps reduce your heat loss, improve your HIP rating and more importantly reduce your energy bill and Carbon footprint. Insulation materials include standard mineral wool insulation which is cost effective and fire resistant. We also offer recycled plastic and sheep wool insulation. As these types of insulation do not emit airborne fibres these are ideal if you are concerned about respiratory issues such as asthma, or sensitive skin.

Once you open up your loft with a ladder you are probably going to use it a lot it and it is worth playing safe and taking all sensible precautions. This balustrade or hatch safety guard rail kit will make your loft ladder safer to use. Designed to fit the Midmade range of loft ladders. Simple and straightforward to install, it only requires that you trim the timber lengths to the size of the ladder’s hatch.

STEEL LOFT BALUSTRADEOur Steel Loft Ladder Balustrade is very firm and rigid and provides a safe sturdy surround to your loft.

The Loft Surround Safety Rail is extra safety for you in your attic space. The Loft Surround rail does exactly as it says surrounds the attic stairs opening at 1m high the three sides of the attic stairs opening so it is extra security and safety for you when you are entering and exiting your attic space and also while you are in your attic. The Surround Rail can fit most attic stairs openings – The width is adjustable going from 500mm to 750mm.

Loft Clearance & Emptying ServiceAs part of our core business of loft boarding, loft ladders and insulation we often get asked about moving stuff out of lofts too. We are pleased to provide loft clearance services throughout the UK as part of a full loft flooring or insulation job or as a standalone service.

HOW WE WORKWhen our staff arrive at your home they will first discuss with you, and agree or confirm the work to be carried out. After this they will start by laying dust sheets throughout the working area and begin accessing your loft space to start clearing it out.

Any items that you want to keep will be placed in your designated location within your home. Rubbish and unwanted items will be bagged up and taken away with us to be recycled wherever possible. We are licensed waste carriers and will always dispose of your unwanted items in accordance with waste disposal guidelines.

Our staff will help you to sort through your items to decide what you want to keep and once you know, they can help you put it all away, either in the loft or wherever else you decide.

Solar The solar powered roof window has a discreet and integrated solar cell that automatically charges the window.

Loft Storage RoomsA loft storage room is an ideal way to increase the storage space within your home without the cost of a full loft conversion.

It’s a clean, dust proof, temperature regulated storage environment that will protect your belongings like any other room in your home.

The finished result gives a room-like feel however planning permission is not required as the profile of the roof has not changed and the room is not classed as ‘habitable’ (such as a bedroom). There are, however, building control regulations that must be adhered to which ensures the room is safe and fit for purpose.

We ensure the joists are strong enough to withstand a higher loading capacity or install new joists if required. We’ll also fit a safe, retractable loft ladder and install the correct level of thermal insulation, maintain airflow through adequate ventilation to avoid condensation.

We do not encourage any habitable use of a loft storage room, so there are limitations on the finishes we provide. For example, we cannot install or extend any heating or plumbing systems into the loft space. We cannot skim, decorate or fit floor coverings in the loft.

If any structural changes are made to your loft space, you should acquire building control certification to evidence the correct regulations have been adhered to.

Gaining Building Control certification is primarily the responsibility of the homeowner, and not the building contractor, but here at The Loftman Company we include Building Control liason and certification as part of our service.
