EVERY PUPIL IS IMPORTANT EVERY STAFF MEMBER IS AN ASSET EVERY PARENT IS A PARTNER
From the Principal School Working Bee The saying goes…”Many hands make light work!” We are looking for helpers to assist on Saturday 3rd of September from 8.00am for our annual school working bee. We are hoping to complete some drain digging near the tanks, paint parking lines at the front of the school and general garden tidy up. If you could please assist, even for a few hours, it would be greatly appreciat-ed. Just give the office a call to let us know if you’re available. Mini Olympics What a fantastic day we have had celebrating the Olympics and enjoying some ‘interesting’ Olympic activities. Students participated in a variety of events including ‘tennis ball hammer throw, Hoola Hoop Challenge, Under Hurdles race and Limbo rock. Thank you to Mrs. Ricardo and Mrs. Lansdown for helping to organise this super fun activity. Book Week As part of Book Week we have another dress-up day next Friday, 2nd Septem-ber. The theme for this day is “Australiana”. We also have a show on this day called ‘Labyrinth in the Library” which is for all students and the cost is $5 per student. Please send payment for this show before the day so your child does not miss out. More details next page. Compass
Recently our school launched Compass. Compass is a school based web portal
that allows data to be collected in a central place. We are inviting parents/
guardians to an information session Thursday 8th September at 4.30pm in the
5/6 building.
Parents will be able to access the number of absences and late arrivals that
their child has had, give approval for school excursions, and download reports.
Teachers are also able to send emails from Compass to keep parents informed
about classroom events and issues.
We welcome another new family to Bass Valley Primary. Welcome to Zoe and Lochlan Watson who have transferred from Woodlands PS. We hope you settle in fantastically!
Have a great week.
Bree Rutherford

from 3—4pm, please let the office know.
As part of book week we will be having a show called The Labyrinth in the Library on Friday 2nd September which all students will attend. It is an exciting, inventive performance which celebrates reading and suggests that books can be guides, teachers and com-panions for life. The cost of this show is $5 per student. This will also be a dress up
day and the theme is ‘Australiana’.
COWS CREATE CAREERS
Our project is coming to an end this week and Professor Quirrell and Valentino will be returning to their farm. We would like to thank the Huitson family again for the loan of their animals and also to staff who have helped out on weekends feeding the calves and David Blum for helping to fix the barn doors. The students have thoroughly enjoyed the first hand experience of raising a calf
LICE CHECK
Last week we had a whole school lice check with fairly positive results. Only a small number of students were found to have live lice. We thank parents for being supportive and picking up students for treatment. Please continue to keep regular checks going. Thank you to Rebecca, Danielle and Marie for assisting with the check. Your help is very much appreciated. FATHERS’ DAY STALL Next Tuesday we will be running a Father’s Day Stall with gifts priced at $2, $5 and $10.
